As Cancer Exercise Specialists we often come across individuals who fear to take the first step in their journey with us because of the word exercise.
While going through treatment, many believe they should not or cannot exercise. So we ask: What is exercise? There is a misconception of exercise. Comment below how you define exercise.
If you ask us, we say it is MOVEMENT! When going through a Cancer diagnosis no individual is the same. There are different side effects experienced and the side effects that are similar, the severity of the side effect varies amongst people. Therefore, we like to use the word movement as for some; small simple – but NOT easy - movements are going to be more beneficial than big difficult movements, which will be beneficial for others.
Why? Biggest factors: Fatigue and Immunity. When one is experiencing high levels of fatigue, moving is still very important, if we push ourselves too far one may find the fatigue can worsen for the next few days instead of reducing. Additionally, when going through treatment our immune systems are suppressed when we push ourselves too hard we can negatively affect our immune system instead of strengthening it.
As Cancer Exercise Specialist, we continually help guide and educate individuals through programs specific to them, which push their limits and aids in reducing side effects. Moving through safe and proper form we can further educate individuals on how to listen to their body and the side effects experienced. Note: Rest is just as important! But we don’t want to rest all the time or too much!
It is so important to MOVE throughout one’s journey but to learn how not to push yourself too far.
What type of movement and activities do you love to do? Comment below!

Unless you’ve been a soldier,
You just won’t understand.
In the service of our land.
We were trained to protect our country,
We don’t discuss the wounds we have, To the body or the mind.
We just put our hurts behind us,
And turn our memories blind.
We are proud we serve our country,
But we always remember those we lost and for the freedom that you have today,
They paid the awful cost.
Ex-Members and family members who walked today you're a created to yourselves 👍

How do we escape the 'ego dance'? It's a daily practice. Sometimes it's as simple as open ourselves up to feeling vulnerable. Reaching out for help. Embracing our messy parts. ⠀
Stay tuned for our upcoming fall workshop on the topic of soul alignment. #itskismet⠀

The picture on the left was sometime around 2013-14 when I was 15/16, and on the right was earlier this year. On the left I was obsessed with the “thigh gap” trend and a flat stomach. I was a typical uneducated teenage girl who didn’t want to touch weights because I was scared it would make me bulky. 4 years later I’m still like where’s my muscle 😂👀 Everyone’s fitness journey is different, we all have different starting points, different whys, different goals, but one thing always remains the same and that is wanting to be better than who you were yesterday 💭
