In the summer, Rome is definitely best experienced in the morning and evening, leaving the afternoon – with its searing sun and blistering heat – for lounging around in front of a fan, preferably with an iced coffee within reach at all times. ⠀
When the sun dips lower in the sky and the shadows get long, that's when you can think about coming out of hiding and heading out for a passeggiata.
We're back from our mini holiday and adding these beauties to the website today. Is this gorgeous weather getting you in the mood for your summer holiday? Get ready to pack in style with the See Ya Suitcase available online from next Thursday 💕
A misty Ruby Beach in Olympic National Park, Washington. This is the subject of my latest YouTube video, which you can find the link for in my Instagram profile. Such a fantastic place for moody, atmospheric landscape images.
We are committed to sustainable and conscious travel. We believe in opening up cross-cultural dialogues between our travelers and our collaborators with a mutually beneficial outcome. View from the Amtrak, somewhere in farm country, Indiana.
Sometimes you have to press pause + take a step back from yourself; your life and take a critical (but kind) look at it. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish but it’s ok to slow down + soak in the view of all the things I have to be grateful for already.⠀⠀
Speaking of views, if you’re neck-deep in planning a trip to Portugal, firstly you need to check out my blog post this week ✨A Curated 10-Day Itinerary of Portugal✨ (link in bio👉🏼). Secondly I’m certain you’ve come across the term “miradouro.” ⠀⠀
Roughly translated, a miradouro is a viewpoint🔭 Lisbon was built on 7 hills + scattered across the city are these elevated terraces with resting spots and shade to drink in the colourful buildings topped with orange clay tiles as they meet the clear blue skies.⠀⠀
We found this one – Miradouro da Senhora do Monte ("Our Lady of the Hill Viewpoint”) – on an eco tuk tuk tour of the charming old neighbourhood of Alfama. I could’ve stood there all day….with a box of fresh pasteis de nada of course 😜⠀⠀

"Live is better if under a palm tree" that must be the reason why palm trees are often seen in the most unusual places...😀
Aerial view: vacationing is not the same as travelling. I don’t feel particularly rested. In fact, my feet are killing me from walking everywhere over ancient, awkward cobblestone streets. I didn’t lie on any beaches, but I did immerse myself in a culture. I’m inspired by it, and given much food for thought on a few different levels because of it. I loved a lot about the place I travelled and was inspired by it. Of course, I didn’t love everything about it; but at least the things I didn’t love, I have more of an understanding about. Travel is not locking yourself up on a resort and laying on the 🏖 beach. I like that kind of vacation as much as anyone else...but that’s a vacation, not travel. Travel is throwing yourself into the life of the place you’ve chosen, and trying to figure out what makes it tick and how that might relate to you. Borders are horrible concepts of colonial thinking 🤔 that were more about carving up the planet’s resources for a few, than about respecting some ridiculous sense of nationhood. Nationalism is a scourge that convinces people it’s fine to throw children into “detention” centres for crossing an imaginary line drawn into a map. My passport says Canadian, but I’m a global citizen. A vacation is nice and self care is a necessity, but you won’t know who YOU are, and your real place in the world unless you travel. Maybe if more people travelled as much as they vacationed, they’d understand “migrant” is not a dirty word. Migration is the story of the human race. 🌍 #traveldeeper

Picture perfect Porto 💛 I want to go back very soon, because I only spend 2 days in this beautiful city! Too short to discover all this city has to offer. What are your favorite spots in the city? @visitportoandnorth#visitporto#porto#portugal
Golden hour at a poppy field✨
Made a quick trip to catch the last days of poppies just before leaving for Chicago but didn’t get around to posting it before. Hope you are enjoying the heatwave! It’s expected 37C this Thursday which is a little terrifying for London😅
Thank you so much for all your lovely messages to my recent news on my last post. I haven’t managed to get out and take any new photos since but I just wanted to check in with this throwback to the lovely days of 🍇 and this special guest appearance 😻. Happy Monday all!
