*WINNING WEDNESDAY* TIP 004
INDEPENDENT STUDY - “don’t study because you need to. Study because knowledge is power. Study because they can never take it away from you. Study because you want to know more. Study because it enhances you. Study because it grows you” @thatnurselifeblog
Being qualified doesn’t mean you know it all and you’re sorted for the rest of your career - the learning never stops. It’s important to keep yourself up to date with recent practice as it certainly does change, but most of all ensure your practice is “evidence-based”. There will be times where you will have to learn on the job mostly practically, however, ensure you have the theoretical knowledge go back up your practice.
TIP: try to set yourself a new topic/condition/type of medication/ care plan every month in order to grow and develop in your nursing career. You will continue to enhance your learning and anything you learn or knowledge acquired contributes to your ongoing learning and professional development as a nurse.
TIP FOR STUDENTS/NEWLY QUALIFIED: Before working in your chosen area/ placement area read up on the fundamentals of the area of nursing. Ie. If general paeds then considering reading up on the different conditions you may come across (which can be seasonal), medications? Also observation parameters. But remember nursing you always learn on the go so don’t think you need to know everything.
See this quote, read it , listen to it , believe it because you have a dream and I have a dream and you will get there it’s going to be one hell of a rollercoaster but you will get there , there are going to be so many knock backs but believe me you will pick your self back up and keep doing what you do because you can and you will 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Meds are a favorite part of my job. Especially IV, drips, chemos 🙌🏻. Love figuring things out, compatibilities, rates, etc. Most commonly given IV meds on my unit are Zofran, Morphine, Benadryl, Reglan, & Zosyn. What are the go to meds on your unit?
Travel nurses have more fun ❤️😱
“I’d risk the fall just to know how it feels to fly”➰Matt and I were listening to the @southlandcc podcast and it laid something on my heart that sure got me thinking. Is there something you’ve wanted to do, but continue to just not get done? In order to START implementing new habits in our life sometimes we have to STOP some old ones first. For example.. Stop surrounding yourself with negativity. Stop telling yourself you’re too out of shape. Stop telling yourself you’re not enough. Stop telling yourself you’ll never fit into your skinny jeans. Stop thinking you don’t deserve better. Stop telling yourself you won’t get the promotion, or you’ll never afford a trip abroad, or you don’t deserve a day to relax. Take a minute, think back through your day and acknowledge what it is that stops you from achieving your goals. What thoughts are blocking you from living? Let me tell ya something, YOU ARE ENOUGH. Take the risk. Make the jump. Buy the ticket. Don’t settle. STOP telling yourself lies, remove negativity from your life and START living out what it is you want to be living for!!! Just a challenge to hit yourself with this week, what list of things do you need to STOP in order to achieve your list of STARTS? #travelnurse
Had our first day observing today and I got to be in paediatrics! What an amazing ward, the staff at st Luke’s are so talented and caring. I had the opportunity to see some amazing things that I don’t think I would of got a chance to in my course. The hospitals here are incredible, everything is electronic right down to the med machine!!! My mind was completely blow! And to finish the day off had my first college basketball experience, thank you #moraviangreyhounds#moraviancollege
HA! When you finally get the ONE letter you have working tirelessly and praying incessantly for😊 My official journey in nursing school has began and the Lord knows i am here for it! 💪I decided to turn my Instagram into a personal blog because of the impact personal blogs had on me when i needed support from people who are on the same / similar journey. I hope to provide the same positive support, reassurance and encouragement that whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve! #Nursingstudent#Studentnurse#Instanursing#Nursesrock#Thisismyjourney

Because I work the hospital life people always ask why I wake up SO freakin early?! Why do I come home from a shift just to work more? .
When I talk to other women about the idea of coaching the response is usually nahh.. not right now I don’t have any time and don’t want to add on anything else.
But you know why I’m up crazy early or come home and work a little bit more?
Because coaching & inspiring other women on their wellness journey’s gave me my life back! .
It GIVES me energy and just lights a fire inside me that makes me WANT to do it!
It’s never been something I HAVE to do.
It has only added to my life ❤️ I’m blessed for all the lovely ladies I have connected with and even more blessed for the ladies on my team with similar passion and fire to grow our nation. .
Now I would be lying if I said there weren’t days that I’m extra tired, busy, or had an awful day at work. But those days are where I turn to my girl gang even more for the support and positive vibes I need in my life 🙌. But without it, I’d be missing all the wonderful people and opportunities it has given me and I wouldn’t trade those for anything!
My DECEMBER coach mentorship starts in a couple weeks and I’m so excited to help more ladies work on their health, wellness, and mindset while helping others! You all know how I feel about #preventativehealth
If you’ve ever wondered about coaching, what I do, or how you can help others with their health & wellness outside of the hospital, NOW is the time! I will give you all the deets and get you started off right 👯♀️
PS I’ll be having a FREE 3 day sneak peak into this life 11/28-11/30 if you aren’t quite sure you want to make the dive or not! No strings attached. .
⬆️Link to join the nation OR hop in on that sneak peek are in the bio and I’ll be in touch 🤗

Taking a break from the usual relaxing travel pictures to bring you to my everyday. Maybe not this extreme everyday, but to show you my life isn't always beautiful trips, hiking, and puppy dogs. Those are just the things I NEED to do to cope with the moments like this one. .
People ask, "how do you not take this home with you?" The answer is... I don't know. Things that happened here you can't unsee, but I suppose I try to think more about the work family and the effort put into this situation.
Work Family: The people you see almost everyday, you don't always get along, but when the going gets tough, you come together. .
And that's exactly what happened. Going home knowing everyone communicated thoroughly, asked for advice on what we could do next, no matter if you were nurse, surgeon, Anesthesiologist, CRNA, scrub tech, attending, resident, new grad or experienced. No idea is stupid. Everyone is equal with one common goal... to literally save a life. Whether you are successful or not, you can honestly say you tried everything.
I'm going to miss this work family when I leave. The teamwork is hands down some of the best I've seen anywhere. But I'm ready to take a break from this scene and do small outpatient elective surgeries at my next travel nurse assignment. A change of pace to help heal my heart from seeing these tragedies... but I'll be back.
P.s shout out to the housekeeping staff that has to clean this up after.. I would quit.
