Edward VI was crowned at Westminster Abbey #otd in 1547 at the age of nine. This statue of him stands at the entrance to St Thomas' Hospital in Lambeth. The hospital had been founded in the 12th century in Southwark as part of the Augustinian Priory of St Mary Overie. It was named The Hospital of St Thomas the Martyr following the canonisation of Thomas Becket in 1173. The hospital was closed in 1540 with the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII. It was his son, Edward VI, who re-founded the hospital. He granted the buildings to the Lord Mayor and citizens of London in 1551 "in view of the sick, poor men lying begging in the streets of London and their annoyance of the King's subjects". With the de-canonisation of Thomas Becket under Henry VIII, the hospital was renamed The Hospital of St Thomas the Apostle. The statue was designed by Nathaniel Hanwell and carved by Thomas Cartwright in 1682. It originally formed the centrepiece of a group of figures which adorned the gateway to the hospital from Borough High Street. The king, who holds a sceptre and the charter granting the hospital's re-founding, was flanked on the gate by carvings of two pairs of disabled figures. The hospital left Southwark in 1862 when its site was compulsorily purchased to make way for the construction of the Charing Cross Railway viaduct from London Bridge Station. The new Lambeth buildings were completed in 1871. #edwardvi#kingedwardvi#statue#stthomashospital#onthisday#onthisdayinhistory#tudors#thetudors#royalhistory
This is my city. Beautiful isn't it? But not 20 seconds after this picture was taken a fella on a Boris Bike nearly ran me over and then screeched "you curly haired cunt!" at me.
Every rose has its thorn...
My lovely patient was telling me this morning how he grew up in Elephant and Castle after the war and used to play in the ruins of London. He was mesmerised (like I) by the view from his room which people pay £400 a night in the Park Plaza Hotel for! Never get tired of the views! 😍😍😍
Had a great intensive with @jt_swing, as always. So glad @londoncityswing got them back after last year, and even better to hear J&T will be at this year's #NewYearSwingFling! Very grateful and appreciative for what J&T have done for West Coast Swing.
Also, glad I braved up and asked Jordan to dance with the help of less wine than I needed last year! My goal is to be as good at sober dancing as I feel when I drunk dance! One day. One day.

My lunch today doesn’t look particularly inspired does it? That’s because it’s part of the Predict Study I’m participating in. The study lasts 2 weeks and on certain days, for certain meals I’m given very specific foods to eat (muffins mainly) and I will take blood spots one and two hours afterwards. My glucose levels are also being measured as is my movement. The study is working towards being able to provide highly personalised nutrition advice based on my unique metabolism. I’m excited (and curious) to be a part of it.
🛳On your marks,🛥get set🚤...watch fireworks🎆🌃🇬🇧
Last time lapse shot in 2018, loved how all the boats were lining up, ready to watch #LondonNYE 📸Timelapse movie shot on #NikonZ6⏱ Oh how much nicer it would’ve been if #BigBen wasn’t all covered up 🤷🏼♂️
This time last year Joel and I were chatting about what life was going to look like when our baby bear arrived. It was beautiful outside, I felt fantastic, Joel was working in the yard, and I looked at the deck and decided it was time to stain it.. After all, Cal wasn’t due for almost 2 weeks. So I sat Indian style and went to town about an hour later my water broke. Cal wanted to join the party! All was going well and then things got pretty bananas. Cals heart rate dropped several times, finally pushing us to do a C-Section. Calvin was absolutely perfect!
I can remember looking at him with in amazement. Since Cal was in such a hurry to join the party he was a bit early and had to join the NICU for 5 days, he was having a tough time breathing. After 5 days he was ready to bust out of there and meet Ninja! We left the Sweet nurses at #stthomashospital and made the journey home. The journey has not stopped! Tomorrow we will officially celebrate our baby bears first birthday. Our love for him and for each other grows deeper everyday. He is such a loved baby boy! We are so grateful for all of our family, friends, and friends to be that love him. It takes a village❤️
