A couple of months ago I had the privilege of spending some time with @clairemactaggart in Broome and the Kimberley’s for @countrystylemag and @westernaustralia. Such a beautiful part of the world, will have to head back someday and burn around in the Defender (although all I saw up there were Troopies!)⛺️. The travel piece on Broome is out in the November issue of @countrystylemag.
Streeters Jetty was forged through the mangroves in Dampier Creek in the 1890's by E.W Streeter to aid in his pearl lugging operations. With infrequent air and road traffic at the time, it also served as the community's main access point to the outside world.
Still used commercially well into the 20th century, it was restored in 2000, and is considered a landmark and place of significance as the only remaining pearl luggers' jetty.

So glad we got the opportunity to revisit Broome and explore places we didn't get to last time!
This little place is the end of Streeters Jetty; the old Pearlers Jetty
We came here at high tide to sit, watch and wait for the wildlife to come out and play! 🐦🐞🐊 #streetersjetty#broome#westernaustralia#australia
Streeters Jetty in Broome at high tide. Much prettier than low tide when you can see bright red fiddler crabs amongst the shopping trolleys which have been pushed off the jetty.
Imaging the old pearl luggers coming through the mangroves up to this old jetty over 100 years ago.
Fascinating history lesson using the jetty to jetty app audio tour.
✨ #throwbackthursday ✨ I've been enjoying joining in on the daily hashtags 😅 are you into this too? This photo was from a couple of months ago when I was on holidays, where we basically just spent everyday relaxing by the pool, enjoying a few cheeky cocktails and good food... oh and take me back to hot weather!! 🌞 It's so nice to just switch off and not be within the daily grind. Do you have holiday plans coming up and where are you off to?
