I paid off $100,000 a few years back. This was a huge milestone in my life and in Episode 3 of the Blissfully Calm Podcast, I go into detail about how I was able to pay off that much debt.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last week I had to admit to myself that I have been overspending. I've been an Amazon Prime member since 2009 and realized that I am addicted to the dopamine rush of buying stuff on Amazon. 99% of the time my purchases are things I do not need. Instead, they're impulse buys that temporarily give me a surge of happiness. Amazon makes it so convenient to overspend and fall into the habit of consumerism. Can you relate? Do you get a rush of dopamine when you see an Amazon box in front of your door? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also paid the balance off on my credit card and cut it up, closed the account. Since this was my only form of credit, my credit score will eventually plummet to 0.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Canceling Amazon and closing my credit score were both bold moves but I already feel so much lighter. I'm paying closer attention to my spending habits and will not have a mini-panic attack each time I check my Capital One balance.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, this episode if for you if you're in debt and need inspiration to dig yourself out. Paying off my student loans, car and credit cars was a difficult experienced fill with many tears, long hours at a stressful job and sacrifice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For extra inspo, check out the Dave Ramsey and the Minimalists (they also have an amazing documentary on Netflix). And as Dave Ramsey says, "Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you're ready to pay off debt, make sure to listen to this episode of the Blissfully Calm Podcast (link in bio).

* What Bill says is the hardest thing about leadership and what you have to give up when you are a leader. Bill says that leading is not about being free to be whoever you are.
* Bill tells a great story about a big mistake he made when taking over a project at his former bank and then what that big mistake meant to him when something similar happened soon after joining Village Bank.
