We missed National Sticker Day last week, but since we were snowed in today and did lots of #stem activities, I wanted to introduce you to the new Osmo skins.
Osmo has teamed up with GadgetWraps @gadgetwraps to design super high quality skins using officially licensed Osmo characters like: Mo from Monster, Awbie from Coding Awbie and more.
Kids can now personalize their Osmo bases or iPad/Amazon Fire tablets with premium skin stickers! Because aren’t gadgets more fun when they’re decorated or tricked out? Osmo skins are waterproof, removable, kid-proof, and reusable up to 25 times.
What other designs would you like to see on Osmo skins? The Osmo team is actively working on other creative designs, but they’re open to your ideas. #osmoskins#osmonaut#osmosocialclub#gadgetwraps#playosmo#stemforkids#stemsunday#stemsundays@playosmo#steam#tangibleplay#playbeyondthescreen

After we made “snow” this morning by mixing baking soda and shaving cream, the little one practically begged me to pull out the vinegar for more exploration. They’ve played around with baking soda and vinegar before, and were eager to see if the reaction would be the same with shaving cream in the mix. The results were so much better than we expected! The snow fizzed, made bubbles, and continued to hold its shape-until vinegar was dumped on by the cupful and the kids made the ultimate slushy mess. You must try it!
MINERAL BOX 🏞️ Some weeks ago I picked up this old mineral box from my parents house... Since the first cleaning and classification process I was very surprised by the kids attention to the colors, shapes, brightness and weight!! 🤓
We have played several times with it and I had the opportunity to explain them a little more with this this easy, colorful and quite old book...
Proud STEM mama moment: Sofia’s Science Fair project was super fun to do and she learned a ton about a topic she LOVES, dance! Sofia tested the reflexes of DANCERS 👯, athletes, and non athletes after being spinned in a chair. Then, she has dancers spot and not spot to see how the reflexes would be altered. RESULTS: dancers had the best reflexes after spinning, followed by the athletes and then non athletes. When dancers spotted their reflexes were like as if they were not spun. CONCLUSIONS: dancers are trained to spot, tricking the brain to not feel the dizziness because the hairs in the inner ear are not affected because the dancer looks at a spot and then quickly turn her/his head to the spot again. Athletes has better reflexes than non athletes because they are trained in hand-eye coordination and that helps with not being so dizzy. .
What I love about this project is that it came from her curiosity, she realized how hard it was to quantify what she had written down and then converting that to a graph was challenging. She also questioned her first set of data and re-tested her dancers while they were spotting. She learned a ton and I couldn’t be prouder. .
I am also proud that even though she had her hardest 2 weeks of dance right before this project was meant to be turned in, SHE DID IT! She usually does 30 hrs of dance a week then there were extra rehearsals before school started at 6 hrs a day, then a dance competition with 30 more hours of dance in 3 days. She worked on the project between breaks, coordinated all the colors of the poster, editing her project from the draft, etc. MANY students have crazy schedules so I admire all who can manage that, keep healthy, and work hard. Executive functioning to last a lifetime, for sure!
You all know by now that I’m more of an Amazon Prime mom than a Pinterest mom (even though I have my moments of creativity 😆) but for the most part I love finding projects that are easy to accomplish and still just as exciting. #AD When I first stumbled on @kiwico_inc , a monthly science based activity box, I knew my girls would LOVE it! They love to be creative and these kits are so convenient in that they come all ready to go with a different activity based on your child’s age per month! It’s great to steer away from the screen time and indulge in a fun STEM based project that comes pre-packaged with all the pieces you’ll need for each project! We even tried out a couple boxes for the boys and I was impressed with every one! The stomp rocket sounded intimidating on the package but the instructions were SO easy to follow! We spent the afternoon outside playing with it and it was such a blast (no pun intended, or maybe it was 😜!) You have to SWIPE to see their faces as they give you just a glimpse at the fun we had! Head to my stories or the link in my bio for your first month free! Just pay $4.95 shipping and you can try it out to see if you like it! #kiwicrate#childrensbox#uniquekidsgifts#learningbox
