⭕WHY YOU SHOULD NOT LIFT SUPER SLOW ⭕

You ever see those guys who take like 10 freaking seconds to finish 1 rep?
Yeah, don't do that...at least if your goal is muscle hypertrophy rather than rehab.
The idea is that slowing down a rep to a super slow tempo increases time under tension. This is correct. More time under tension is great. It also helps you establish a mind-muscle connection and get a pump.
BUT, if you are lifting so slow that you have to drastically limit the load you lift, then the magnitude of tension is lower. Less volume will be performed. We know volume is the key driver of hypertrophy according to research by Dr. Brad Schoenfeld, so we want to maximize volume.
And if the concentric portion of the rep is slow, you are limiting muscle hypertrophy because studies actually show explosive concentric contractions lead to better muscle growth for the most part.
Remember, tension is the force produced by your muscle in BOTH time as well as magnitude. If you are not recruiting all your muscle fibers to create tension, then you are limiting your progress.
Here's the solution: Lift somewhat slowly, or rather I should say, lift under control! This way, you slow down the eccentric portion of the lift without doing it so slowly that you limit the load you can lift and the tension produced.
