#movie#film#cinema#movielover#movieaddict#moviereview#cinephile#instamovie#instacinema#filmlover#movieoftheday#movies#docteurfolamour#drstrangelove#stanleykubrick#peterseller#coldwar#nuclearwar#humournoir#absurde
The #10DayMovieChallenge 10 days of films that made a permanent impact on your your life. No explanation or description required. But I’m still going to say something, because these films mean more than a wordless picture to me.
#DayFive — The Shining by Stanley Kubrick — Yes of course, ANY Kubrick and all films could be on this list and although Eyes Wide Shut is a veeeery close second, there is only ONE Kubrick film that has made SUCH a profound impact on my life, and that’s The Shining. EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME. of this film is absolutely FLAWLESS. The delicacy and precision that Kubrick put into all of his films is most on-display for me here. Stunning, chilling and hypnotic; The Shining is a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic experience.
Kirk Douglas turns 102 years old. Happy Birthday! 🎂 This is a photo of Kirk Douglas and me at a Los Angeles book signing event in 2002. Kirk Douglas was one of the very first movie stars I met when I first moved to the city. Over the following years, I met the actor a few more times and had brief conversations with him. He was always very polite. Nice guy. Funny. He's one of the last surviving actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Did you know that Kirk Douglas was one of the very first actors to become an "independent filmmaker" outside of the studio system? If you ever get the chance to read his autobiography, "The Ragman's Son" you should check it out. It's a great Hollywood autobiography. 👀 Check out my authentic signed celebrity memorabilia for sale on eBay. 🎬 My eBay store is Hollywoodautographnews. @BigOrangeLA#kirkdouglas#michaeldouglas#moviestar#spartacus#stanleykubrick#hollywood#hollywoodactors#classichollywoodactor#hollywoodmemorabila#signedcollectibles#autographsforsale
WAIT NO MORE! #wheremonsterhides is alive and well on #YouTube & #Vimeo, begging for you to watch. This project was my first attempt at directing/producing and is something I wrote, as well—heavily inspired by #stanleykubrick ‘s #theshining. It took 10 generously talented people, a heavily stretched $1,000, 12 hours, and the recycled terror of of my childhood.
@guypooles - one kickass DP who contorted in every which way for the perfect shot.
@nmusco - brilliant DP turned gaffer in a pinch

@jasen_frisby - editor extraordinaire who knows how to keep an audience’s attention / AND Logan Frisby for lending his perfect voice to the role of “Young Beto”

The Alex at #AClockworkOrange's end is both totally the same as and totally different from the dude we meet in the milk bar.⠀
While Alex is unconscious after attempting suicide, doctors do something to his brain to reverse the Ludovico technique. This is alluded to by Alex's dream, "like all these doctors were playing around with me gulliver. You know...like the inside of me brain." And the psychiatrist's face when Alex tells her this suggests that this wasn't a dream at all.⠀
The Minister soon enters and says, in many, many words, that Alex will now be a pawn of the government. The government will give him a job and a salary. Why? Because according to the Minister, Alex "can be instrumental in changing the public's verdict." Alex is fine with this.⠀
At this point you might be wondering, "Who is this person, and what did he do with Alex, a boy who seemed eager to destroy the world and everything in it?" Well, the last line of the film is Alex saying, in a voiceover, "I was cured, all right" as he imagines himself having sex with a young woman in a crowd of people.⠀
So is Alex back to the way he was before, or has he found a medium between violent criminal and brainwashed Ludovico victim? The film leaves that for us to decide, but we think he's somewhere in the middle.⠀

Stanley Kubrick considered Robert De Niro and Robin Williams for the role of Jack Torrance in “The Shining”, but decided against them. Kubrick did not think De Niro would suit the role after watching his performance in “Taxi Driver”, as he deemed De Niro not psychotic enough for the role. He did not think Williams would suit the role after watching his performance on “Mork & Mindy”, as he deemed him too psychotic for the role. According to Stephen King, Kubrick also briefly considered Harrison Ford before eventually casting Jack Nicholson in the lead role. 🔪

#StanleyKubrick put numbers by all of the 'corpses' in #Spartacus so that he could direct each extra & actor, otherwise he would've had to learn all individual names for this huge scene.

A happy Kubrick on the set of Full Metal Jacket (1987).
Kubrick'in hayatına mâl olmuş bir bakış açısı değiştirici mektuptur.
:) :) #eyeswideshut#stanleykubrick#tomcruise#nicolekidman
