Boys & girls- your spindles/balusters should not come out of the stringers this easily.
The homeowner for whom we are remodeling her stairs has been terrified that one of her grandchildren would go flying through the stair case one day... & her fears were well founded, unfortunately. This staircase was a lawsuit for the builder waiting to happen. The bottom of the spindles was barely "attached" to the stringers, if you could call it that.
I guess they thought 'a little dab (of epoxy) will do ya'. ' Yeah, no. Just no. We will be drilling much deeper than they did & actually using something more than finishing nails to attach the rails to the posts. #ridiculous#shoddywork
When I went for a run 🏃♀️ on the infamous stairs here in Darwin today, I met a man who looked incredibly fit and as if he has been running for hours. He started running up the stairs but halfway through he continued walking (believe me, those stairs are hard work...🏋️♀️) I saw the disappointment in his face...this look of failure. 😔
So I smiled at him and said, "YOU CAN DO THIS!!!" He looked in my eyes, smiled back and said "You are right! I CAN DO THIS! THANK YOU!" 💪
He took a deep breath and off he went.
