Botanical Study 3. Cherry Blossom & Leaf 💫
I love muddy, chocolate, coffee hues of brown. In leaf & flower form. Cherry foliage is weak this time of year but as long as you keep the stems in water it’s fine 🍒
Yes, I realize this arrangement is WAY too large for this table, but I am dancing with excitement, because this big daddy is a foam-free test piece that I feel went well.
Why is this exciting? Well, a lot of us wedding florists are asked to design on slim stands or platforms that have no bowl or receptacle to hold water. Many, many of us are choosing to avoid single-use plastic products, instead aiming to reuse or compost all of the materials that go out on a job ( see the @garbage.goddess for inspiration). The custom made receptacle holding this piece is a MacGyver’d bucket with lots of strategically placed holes, filled with a multilayered orb of florist’s netting. The placement of the holes came from lots of trial and error, and I plan to share step by step information on making it, and designing in it in an upcoming affordable online class. Make sure you have a drill! This piece is secured to the stand and feels very reliable- I jostled the table to test for steadiness.
I’ll also share what I made out of the bucket trimmings- super fun.
Excited to share every last detail very soon!

Also, if you’re a youngster, google MacGyver. Good stuff. 😄
