I believe that inside every person who is bullied there is a strength and a tenacity to survive. You don’t always know that this strength exists, but if you make it through those dark times, you become aware. You become a survivor, someone whose courage and spirit is far stronger than all of the hate and cruelty of their bullies. The one thing that I want to impart to children with autism is knowledge of their own inner strength, and the belief that one day at a time, they, too, can get through this-Amy Gravino

3 years ago today I presented at my first ever conference - an international community music conference. I had never been so nervous in my life! I was thinking, I'm not smart enough to present to so many amazing academics who make such an impact in the CM field! I needed help to say some words too and I could not have done it without these guys being with me. 💕
It was also the first mention of doing an MA and I laughed it off completely saying I could never do that - I don't read enough for starters! 😉
3 years on, these guys have still got my back, support and believe in me and I'm now so close to actually completing my MA!
And conferences and presentations?... Piece of cake nowadays! 😉

I did a live!!! I couldn’t figure out how to save it sooooo if you want to take a listen, hop to my stories to view the live tab. New song again, another verse and a bridge. Don’t know if I’m finished tweaking but it’s further along
Make a difference in the lives of others. It’s why I majored in therapy. To help people recover from illnesses, deconditioning, accidents, and surgery. What I didn’t anticipate is the limitations of working in healthcare. The medical field doesn’t focus on curing disease... it’s about managing symptoms and attempting to restore function. The research field is focused on finding cures and currently “laser focused” on alterations of the gut Microbiome and the impact on disease and health. It’s a much more exciting area to me. It’s one of the primary reasons Todd Sachs and I experimented with some gut health supplements that were making major changes to family member’s lives. And then I experienced very similar results. My chronic illnesses began disappearing. Chronic pain went away. 14 medications I was able to stop taking. I was shocked. To say I was skeptical is a huge understatement. I thought most of it was placebo effect. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Now I get to help people balance their gut and see what healing takes place as a result. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had in healthcare. Customizing their gut health program and working with them to make adjustments in it as we go is such a blessing. All the health victory messages make my day.. every single day. Thank you God for bringing this crazy unexpected business into our lives where we can help others find healing like we did.❤️

RESILIENCE • The ability to feel the emotions of the things that happen to us and to make a choice as to how we respond. To continue moving forward thinking only about what’s next despite the things that have happened. -@jordyn_weiber had a phenomenal @ted talk about two times in her life that she had to have resilience.
We all have trials.
Some small, some big.
Some public, some private.
My resilience comes from my faith and trust in Him and the knowledge that I’ve survived 100% of my bad days 👊🏻

Here are just a few tips I’ve picked up while parenting and preparing with my child who has SPD. Disclaimer I (Caitlin) am not a professional these are tools/tips that have helped me. Sharing to help others 🤗
1. 𝐁𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 (getting things ready before we go anywhere has helped tremendously)
Such as packing a bag with snacks, extra clothes, and things that soothe them.
-if you need any ideas for snacks, soothing techniques, and calming toys DM us.
2. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 (I know leaving early and being on time is hard with kids but it will benefit you) Give yourself extra time! 😉🙃When you rush it causes you to panic which can lead your child to feel anxious.
3. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 (this one is so important use resources, techniques, and people to help you) you don’t have to do it all on your own. Let others help, it’s ok! Also there are toys, fidgets, and soothing mechanisms you can use to help your child.
-for ideas that specifically suit your child’s needs DM us.
4. 𝐁𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡. (When I do these 3 things and let me tell you it changed everything!) When I’m calm she’s calm, when I talk gentle she talks gentle. Our children mimic our behavior so let’s take a deep breath and relax.
5. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 (this is probably the most important thing I’ve learned) I can only assist, encourage, and help when I understand the who, the what, and the why. If I don’t learn her triggers I might not be correctly and efficiently helping her work through her outbursts or help stop them before they even start.
Is there any additional tips you have learned?! Let us know!! 👇

We have been building our articulation skills and spatial skills #intheclinic last week. This is from our Articulation Puzzles resource. It features the super six (k, g, f, sh, l, s) with a loaded scene on one side and loaded sentences on the other. Great for working on sentences and generalisation.
Oops I did it again! 🤦🏻♀️ I took another trjp to Dollar Tree to grab some more of these mini “lego” boxes! 😂 These are perfect for hiding little trinkets or figures in and to do some following directions/requesting activities! 🙌🏼👍🏼
Hi 👋 I’m Caitlin I am Nora’s mom! Nora has SPD (sensory processing disorder.) It’s my mission for other moms (and dads😉) to receive support and encouragement. I know first hand how parenting is with a child who has a behavioral disorder. You are not alone.
People might tell you that being different isn’t quite right. But I am here to you tell you from my experience that Nora’s differences are beautiful. We have BIG victories each day, we find freedom, gain confidence, and walk out in love each and everyday. What I have seen and witness are little miracles, big steps, and breakthroughs. 🙌👏
If you are an angry parent (that’s ok I was too🙋♀️) do you ever feel alone, ashamed, and/or frustrated? We encourage you to seek help; do research, gather resources, and rebuild your child up.
We want to be more than just a community but a family. A family who understands the daily struggles, the tasks that seem impossible, and the traumatic outbursts.
We are here. We are here to help. 🤗

With that summer sun sizzling, my son decided he wanted to cool off with an icy, refreshing smoothie for dinner. He randomly will ask for smoothies and today was the day. I guess he was reading my mind since I was NOT planning to cook or do anything that would require heat. So I figured the convenient selection of mango, pineapple and spinach from my freezer would be helpful in making this happen. We Added a little seltzer/juice combo and chia seeds. We are now well on our way to beating the heat and cooling down . Since a meal for me is never complete without dessert, I added a lemon cupcake with glaze (made that yesterday)🤗.

Check out this video for some strategies that you can use at home🏡. A couple of notes:
1. Individualize your targets🤓. The targets I chose were specific to my client and based on his current skills. Make sure your targets are developmentally appropriate and attainable for your child!
2. Repetition is 🔑. Don’t be discouraged if your child doesn’t respond initially to the targets. It may take many repetitions, and that’s okay! Provide as much support as needed for your child to be successful.
If these strategies are helpful, please comment👇🏼and share! And let me know if there’s interest in a written description for this. I am happy to add it to the website for download🙌🏼.
Not only are puzzles fun and engaging, they provide opportunities for requesting, commenting, or drill like work where every time the child does or says the targeted goal, they get a piece of the puzzle!

Shout out to Target Dollar Spot for giving my (soon to be) 4yr old the pretend classroom of her dreams! She has been so into playing “teacher” lately! Another shout out to the target employee for giving me the teacher discount when she saw what I was buying! 😂💃🏼
👩🏼🏫🎒🍎📓✏️ Anyone else out there remember playing school when you were little? I would play “teacher” for hours! One of my friends even had an overhead projector and it was amazing! (I’m looking at you, @white_lauraw 😂🙌🏻)

Without resilience, kids may grow up quitting whenever they encounter a challenge. That may mean quitting a sport they love when they fail to get a trophy or quitting a job in the future when they make a mistake. Here are some ideas on how you can instill resilience in your kids.⠀
