It is an amazing privilege to have the possibility to pursue a path that I love... ✖️ #Elumusic

Bringing that warm Casio grit in the re-amp. Courtesy of Standel Amplifiers, Standel Spring-Verb/Tremolo, which just surfs it’s way through this old, punchy Marshall cabinet. Mic’d with Beyerdynamic M160 of course and a shure 57. Recording/mixing directly onto Maxell Metal Cassette with a modified Nakamichi LX-3.
The Western Elstons are at Simon’s Tavern tonight, Wednesday January 16, 8:30-11pm! Here’s some Western Swing craziness for you, I’m playing the head to “Jammin’ with Jimmy” by Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West, using the “Sound On Sound” feature on my Echoplex. Compared to modern looper pedals, the Echoplex is a little maddening – if you make a mistake, you have to do all the parts over again, and you also have to wait for the tape loop to come around every time you add a part. But through the same little Gibson GA-6 amp, the tape compresses so nice, it sounds like an old Les Paul 78.
Speaking of outdated technology, it will be on display at all my gigs this week, here is my show calendar through Sunday:
Thursday, Jan 17: Orso’s Restaurant in Old Town, jazz duo with Beau Sample, 7:30-10pm. (No Hideout for Devil this week, we got bumped for a comedy show)
Friday, Jan 18: Duo with Beau Sample at Honky Tonk BBQ, dinner set from 7:30-9:30pm.
Saturday, Jan 19: Devil in a Woodpile in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at The Pabst Brewery Taproom, 9pm.
Sunday, Jan 20: The Green Mill, organ trio with Chris Foreman and Mike Schlick, 11pm to 2am. #westernswing#guitarvideo#soundonsound#echoplex#tapeloop#countryguitar#jimmybryant#telecaster#tele
