Recently Theo has had a bit of a rough time. Nothing out of the extraordinary for a nearly 9 month old. He’s teething, he’s discovering that he can pull himself up, he’s so bloody curious (aka nosey), he’s chatty, and wants to be his own boss. This has led to a few challenging nights, particularly after he’s decided he didn’t need an afternoon nap that day. He’s always slept in his own bed, he’s always gone down awake, and he’s always managed to settle himself. I’ve been lucky.
Recently teething, and figuring out he’s over milk and quite frankly doesn’t think he needs any food other than crunchy food, has made evening time not so fun.
He’s woken up hourly in what I’ve assumed is pain. His tummy has been a bit off too. Last night I broke my only consistent rule...I let him fall asleep in my bed. He just wouldn’t settle in his. After 15mins he was sound asleep, deep enough to allow me to move him. I toyed with having a night with him, but realised I would never sleep properly with him with me. I need my rest too, and I also need a moment of the day being alone.
He slept fantastically! I didn’t hear a sound until about 5.30am, and then he resettled. It made me realise that he’s going through a lot more than I’d realised. He needed me to chill out and a decent sleep
His little mind is going a million miles an hr, his gums hurts, his tummy feels weird from all the new food, he wants to make sure he’s not missing anything, he’s mad he can’t walk over to the toy he wants, he wishes I would realise that he’s really not that into avocado.
I’ve always said to people that Theo is the only person I’ve ever been patient with. But I’ve also realised that I need to be way more patient with him. Don’t rush the little guy or expect too much from him. He will figure everything out eventually, and in the meantime I will be patient enough to let him have his moments of arrrgh, break some of my ‘rules’ 😉
Ps this mornings nap. It’s wrong to want to wake him and squish his cheeks isn’t it?! #smb#ttc#babyweening#babysleeping#babynaps#teethingbaby#teething#sleepisfortheweak#babysleepnomore#ivfsuccess#rainbowbaby#patience#givehimtime#breaktherules#babiesofinstagram
