As I visited Helsinki today, I wanted to go to the seaside. As it was late, it was already pitch dark, quiet, safe. Suddenly a loud voice of birds. I recorded some and found out that it belonged to an eurasian oystercatcher. Beautiful bird, I have never seen it before. In the last picture you can see the famous Sibelius Monument, it was right there, too, so why not to take a night picture of it.
Suomeksi lyhyesti: käväisin iltasella Hietsussa ja bongasin meriharakan!

My second day in Helsinki was a full-on day of sightseeing, starting with a 2.5 kilometre walk to the Sibelius Monument.
Although it looks modern, the sculpture was actually created in 1967 by artist Eila Hiltunen, to honour Finland's most famous composer. .
Whilst I knew it would be cool (and well worth the trip), it was in reality much cooler (and bigger!) than I expected 😀
