This knife is as custom as it gets. Murray has been in the milling industry for 25 years, and bought @macdirectnz 15 years ago, specialising in quality NZ Macrocarpa products and timber using traditional machinery and techniques until recently upgrading. I personally picked out a Macrocarpa slab for my outside bar top, even being able to pick which I wanted from the freshly cut trees waiting to be milled. The blade itself is made from a traditional saw mill blade which is thought to be over 30 years old, and was sharpened by hand. The handle is made from a piece of Macrocarpa wood, which Murray picked himself from the mill, and the knife was made using traditional techniques, with the forging marks still evident in the blade. A pleasure to make, and a fantastic man and business to make it for.
Recently finished this WW2 Survivor with carbon steel blade, pommel, and guard. The handle is canvas micarta. This knife is SOLD for Christmas delivery and you can find more details at dfcustomstore.com under the Finished Knives section.
