EZ & LZ is switching up a bit tonight. Still 630 pm but join us at Brooks Trailhead (3400 Stone Way) for 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Kick-Off Party. 🤘🎸🤘🎸
First run post snowstorm and added in my first weight training session since my surgery (9.5 weeks post op). Felt good to lift some weights again and felt no pain, had to modify a few things because the mobility in my wrist is still limited. Looking forward to get back to my usual running and lifting routine again.

#momlife All the WA moms running away from the weekend like NO OUR KIDS JUST WENT BACK TO SCHOOL!😂 Haha j/k but really😳today is the first normal day! Kids have missed like 6 school days on top of weekends. ANNNNDDD it happens to be a 3 day weekend too.
Any other moms feeling that urge to go on a target run, oops I mean therapy run? 😜
Dont get me wrong I love my kids, but I need my mommy ONLY time! No shame admitting you need your own time. For years I only lived my life thinking my purpose was to be a mom and if I wasn't hovering and doing everything for them I wasn't nurturing them, but there's something really special that happens when you realize that being a mom is an extra cool side of you but not the whole package.
Ladies, just because your kids are little and you still gotta do things for them doesn't mean that everything you do needs revolve around them.
It's OK to admit that you need a break from your kids if you're feeling guilty because you do need some space from them need to re evaluate why your clinging to them so much for your worth and value. sorry that one may have stung. It did when I realized that's what I was doing and it is ultimately why empty nesting is SO HARD for mothers. I have met women it broke and others that learned to fly.
Okay so maybe we still run for the hills any chance we get a few mins of chocolate or silence or to pee alone. But really schedule your time and TEACH your kids that your purpose is more than being their mom, then everything you do for them is because you love them and not because you HAVE TO BECAUSE YOUR A MOM. It will help them respect you more when they are teens TRUST ME😱. XOXO Carleeh

Thinking about training for a race this summer? Thinking about your training process?
Did you know that 60-90% of runners will experience an injury every year? That's too high!
We are offering a running evaluation to help point runners in the right direction to minimize your injury risk. For $100, you will get two sessions with a PT. The first session will include an evaluation of video analysis of running mechanics as well as strength and ROM. Exercises will be given as needed. The second session will be a follow up to the first, to make sure that exercises are performed correctly and add additional exercises as necessary. Other topics to be included are training progressions, increasing mileage, how to increase pace, footwear, etc. Basically anything that is important to the runner. Runners come in all shapes and sizes and all levels of experience. See below for what each runner will walk away with! #running#seattlerunning#runningform#physicaltherapy#trainbetter#getmoving
Continuing the topic of coldweatherrunning. This morning I still needed 18.5 miles to meet my weekly mileage goal. It didn’t snow overnight and the roads were clean enough for running, so the biggest challenge was to stay warm in 19 degree weather.
Hypothermia is a threat, so pay attention to your body's thermoregulation. I experienced hypothermia in 1996 during Marathon Olympic Trails. It was 22 degrees and my fingers got so cold I couldn’t hold my water bottle. By the end of the race I was severely dehydrated and was quickly losing body heat.
So, here is what I needed to stay warm today. Note all zippers are not zipped up when I start. I was zipping them up progressively during the run so I don't over-sweat in the first few miles. My jacket hood went on about half way through the run.
Layer 1 of 4: Thermal underwear; long sleeve light weight shirt; smart wool 1/4 socks
Layer 2 of 4: Medium weight long sleeve shirt with mitts; medium weight running tights
Layer 3 of 4: Running vest; medium weight hat; running belt for phone; running gloves with 1 pair hand warmers for each hand. Place one hand warmer in the pocket on the backside of your glove pocket, hold in your gloved hand, then cover your glove with the mitt pocket of you long sleeve shirt.
Layer 4 of 4: Nike Jacket
Gear: extra hat and hand warmers in the vest pockets, Garmin Fenix 5, heart monitor, and trail running shoes with good tract (Escape Goat 2 by Hoka)
Route and Starting Time: Condition of the roads(clear), sidewalks (frozen), and the pedestrian and car traffic will affect your run. I started running at 7am this morning, 6:15 would have been best. A total of 10 cars passed me the first 8 miles, it picked up a little to 3 to 8 cars per mile.
Ladies, I have news!!!
I am proud to announce that I was chosen to be a 2019 @sarahmariedesignstudio brand ambassador!!! Eeekkkk so excited. Like, soo sooo excited.
🏃🏼♀️ If you don't know if you know my backstory, here is a little piece. I started my fitness journey 7 yearswith #uawb@underarmourwomen it was the best community of boss babes who were proving beautiful is being whoever you want to be, doing hard things. Sarah was one of my #UAsisters#whatsbeautiful , she actually won the campaign. Since, then we did years of goal smashing and community building with women to share the love of fitness/sport.
Sarah found her voice in the running community, and aren't we all so thankful?!? How many of you own something she created? 🏃🏼♀️
She designs the most hilarious and fitting shirts for runners and she is an amazing artist. She has run Boston and NY marathons. She was one of my inspirations to run a half marathon, I ran my first 5k with UA as a goal and then ran my first half a few weeks after it disbanded, it was my last goal with them. 🏃🏼♀️
I met so many amazing woman, I still love and adore today. We all went in different directions, but I love following their stories. I can't wait to rep for Sarah and her company! #smdsambassador#sarahmariedesignstudio
Operation “Go For a Run During Our Lunch Breaks and Come Back Home Before Snowpocalypse* Begins” was an epic fail. But we got 3 miles in so booyah #SeattleSnow! 🌨🌨🌨
*For all my non-Seattleites: Seattle is experiencing its second snowstorm in less than a week, bracing for 6 to 8 inches of snow until early next week. Depending on where you live, this may be NBD, but it’s big to us since it rarely snows here. ❄️🥶❄️
Stay warm and safe, friends!
So far I’ve lucked out postpartum. I have had my share of physical setbacks...but none mental or emotional after having my baby.
However, in the past, I have been depressed. I have some tips on how I overcame it, so you can use them to help you if needed.
Of course you always want to prevent depression or make yourself feel better. However, those who have suffered or are suffering from depression know that “trying to feel better” is not going to work. You know you should be happy, you just aren’t. Why not? And what can you do?
Why aren’t you happy? Because you haven’t fulfilled the goals that you really want to. Maybe you are living your life trying to fit in by having the typical goals that you know are important to the masses. So you follow what other people do and you leave your own dreams behind.
Or....you or somebody else is your own worst enemy. Telling you that you are not good enough.
What you need to do is: do something very small towards the goal you’ve always wanted to achieve. Know you don’t have to complete your entire goal right away. You just have to make tiny steps.
You need to encourage yourself to work towards your dreams no matter how big or small. You will find that over a short time, you start to feel better. When you see progress towards your goal or hit milestones, you will feel great. Sometimes you will fail a little bit, so you’ll need to be okay with not being perfect.
Depressed or not, go out and get your goals! 💪
Need YOUR opinion! Gray dress or red dress?
I can’t decide 🤷♀️. For date night at a jazz club Saturday night 🎵

It’s always great to have a running buddy. Mine might be small and I might do all of the work, but at least he shows up 👶!
If you need a running buddy to help you train for a race, chat to prevent boredom, or you just like to run with people...I highly suggest going to a running group. Some running groups meet up at shoe stores or popular community spaces like parks and lakes.
You can always ask your local running shoe store where runners meet-up!

Using a baby or another heavy object to exercise is a great way build stronger arms. You can lift a baby or medicine ball over your head repeatedly (for 3 sets of 10 reps).
My baby doesn’t like me lifting my weights instead of him, so I use him for my arm workouts. He has a great time and is the perfect weight (at 20 pounds) for this exercise.
Does anybody else have some creative ways to exercise with your kid, pet, or random heavy object?
