For #worldoceansday I’m posting one of my favourite ever photographs. This friendly pod of dolphins put on a twenty-minute show whilst our boat sailed off the coast of Sri Lanka in search of a blue whale – which we eventually found! I cried many happy tears that day.
If you find the time this week, please watch the brilliant documentary @plasticoceans . I’d prepared myself for an emotional film but hadn’t quite expected the news to hit home in the first five minutes. That’s no exaggeration. The first “slick” of predominantly plastic pollution viewers are introduced to was filmed off the coast of Sri Lanka. I can’t stop thinking back to the day this picture was taken and how at the time I was so unaware of this issue.
After attending an amazing event by @rawfoundationuk last week, I thought I’d end this post with a simple message that every person can learn and introduce into their daily routine…
Say no to single use plastics.
There's also three quick and easy steps you can start with. Refuse the offer of a straw when you order a drink. Remember to take a cloth bag along to your weekly shop. Opt for a re-usable glass or metal water bottle.
Thanks for reading! 🐬 (Sri Lanka ‘16)
