The Southern Ocean is home to the ‘albatross latitudes’. There are 22 species of albatross and they are the most impressive and beautiful seabird you’ll ever see. This is an Antipodean albatross (photo taken in NZ) and the second photo is of a wandering albatross taken around 1930 on an Antarctic island. The size of this young bird is incredible.
Just beginning the process of sorting through all the photos and video from the North Atlantic, taken from my #iphone and multiple @gopro cameras. This gem came early in the trip. These are fulmars, and I saw them all the way across from Newfoundland to the Scilly Islands! They would often come hang beside me whenever I stopped for more than a few minutes, presumably waiting for chum or to feed on the plankton they expected would accumulate under/around Lucille. This time they had me surrounded with expecting looks on their faces!
