WHITE-CHEEKED BARBET ~50/100~
Today is day 50 of the 100-Day Challenge, where everyday for 100 days I would share an image of a wild animal in its natural habitat I photographed. A different species on each day! :D
The White-Cheeked Barbet is endemic to the Western Ghats of India and the nearby hills. The bird is identified by the white cheek stripes under the eye, giving it the name.
In this image it is seen digging/excavating a hole for its nest in the tree trunk. The loud impact of the beak against the wood gave away the location, giving us the opportunity to photograph it, with @bubbleshort and @abdidanish95
