Foods that you may think are healthy may be holding you back from your goals.
For example... Yogurts are generally viewed as good for you. High protein and probiotics are the reason. Certain ones are anyway. The flavoured ones tend to be chock full of sugar. Even 3/4 cup can contain upwards of 15--20g of sugar. Stick to plain yogurts and flavour it yourself with honey and berries.
Granola and protein bars suffer from the same problem. Check the sugar!
When we hear salad, we generally drop our guard. Fast food salads can contain 400-700 calories, being loaded with toppings and sauces.
Speaking of sauces, condiments can add unnecessary calories as well as sugar and salt. As long as they're used in moderation these aren't too bad.
The big lesson is to pay attention to nutrition labels and know what's in the food you eat. Just because a package says "healthy" "low fat" or "30% less sugar", doesn't mean it's good for you.
Awareness is your best defense.
