Don’t know how I managed that!! PB Alert! 🚨 New 5k time of 21:27! 🚨
Honestly have no idea how this happened, I’ve been ill for the last 48 hours and it was driving me mad so I laced up and just wanted to get something done!
Bolted from the start and I could definitely feel fatigue by the time I got to the 1st lap. Dropped to a steady pace and didn’t even look at the clock, just wanted to get the run under my belt.
Only time I checked it was on the last corner where I knew it was a PB was realistic. So I literally gave it everything I had! And quite frankly my legs were jelly at the end!
Happy just to get the run done, especially from 0 exercise over the last few days due to illness. Getting a PB is just the icing on the cake!
Hope everyone had a great #parkrun day!!
In my old country Iceland, we say that if you see seven building cranes or more on the horizon then the economy is overheated and going to shits. To make it even worse then the belief is that if you see a pale runner with a light pole growing out of his head then its time to prepare for a recession. Maltese people. You have twelve cranes and a light pole runner in one photo here. Get out while you still can. Courtesy of #praguemafia economic forecasting #financialfreedom#pale#cranes
So who won the Toto draw? 🐖. Have been struggling to adjust back to SG weather but happy to get it right in today’s easy run. Coincidentally took the route to entrance of Coney Island and back, kinda prefer this route now for 9km. Serene and peaceful despite the dirt track being more concrete than dirt. 🙄. Long run tmr, let’s see how I feel as the day goes by. Easy week continues before the training camp in Tokyo next week!

^How I felt about yesterday's workout.
I set out to do 4 x mile repeats and came home after only 2. Usually I am all about pushing through tough workouts to build both physical and mental strength but yesterday I came to the conclusion that doing a slightly longer cooldown and calling it a day after 2 rough reps was going to be more beneficial than trying to force my tired body through 2 more dissapointing mile reps. I'm not sure why but I felt extremely fatigued and my mile times started off about 15 seconds slower than last time I did this workout. I think it might have been from my first time getting dry needling & stim combo treatment the day before, or maybe just from lack of sleep. I'm still not quite sure why but I felt like I was dragging my body around and was running significantly slower than usual. But hey, I still gave it my best try! And when you experience those not-so-great training days, you just gotta learn something from it and then move on! Very-great training days are ahead of you!
I think it's just as important to know when your body needs recovery as it is to know how to push through challenging workouts. I don't always get it right, but I try to get better at listening to my body every day.
What indicators do you use to know your body needs recovery?

This week I want to bring recognition to @simsn_26! Noah began training with me last May to become an efficient runner and build strength and resistance to fatigue. Here he is mid-session of a Plyometric Circuit as part of his Run and Endurance Training. I’m so proud of how far he has come. Keep up the hard work, Noah!!

Next time I don't think I'll choose to drink tinnies the night before 🙆
Brilliant to meet and see so many supporting faces today - thank you lovely running community.
