After spending the whole day travelling, I checked into my hostel and went for an exploratory run around #Izmir
It was a familiar pattern during the first months of my trip - I really missed being able to explore new places through running while I was injured. It was limiting and I hated it... I should probably own one of those #NotRunningSucks t-shirts...
1) I loved this car park! (Specifically, I think it was kind of a circular entry ramp to the main car park) 2) These small structures looked great at night with their fancy lighting! 3) A fancy walkway 4) So much blue 5) A strange sign that I can’t figure out 6) Fancy lampposts 7) Rainy reflections 8) A spooky watchtower and a happy runner - Hope you’re having a great week!
Still hanging in there @ number 3 in best seller charts
Just saying 👍💖👊

Tentatively starting to look ahead to 2019, as injury has me signed off for the rest of this year.
After running London Marathon in April I had tightness and pain in my left calf which then eventually led to problems with my left achillies in the run up to NYC Marathon. Now, after resting post-marathon, running into another runner in Valencia left me with an inversion sprain on my right ankle (the ‘good’ one). A few weeks of physio and rehab (with the @function360physiotherapy dream team) await and then hopefully I’ll be ready to start training again in the new year.
So far have the big half, Milan Marathon and @edinburghmarathonfestival half marathon lined up and looks like I’ll be on cheer squad duty in Barcelona in Feb. 📷 @annrachphotography#LDNBrunchClub#MySportsEdit#MarathonTraining#LondonRunners#Rehab#SportsInjury#Physio

Tuesdays have always been a day where I try to crush some miles. I used to even jokingly call my Tuesdays the nickname "Triple Tuesday" because I would usually end up running 3 times on them. A morning run, lunch run, and then group run in the evening. While the monster run Tuesdays are not a thing anymore, I do feel like I can still call my Tuesdays something catchy since I've replaced some of the miles for a hard lifting session. Super Tuesday? Training Tuesday? 🤔 Maybe someone can help me out with a good name for it.
Running Summary: The treadmill miles today were spread over the morning when I had time. As much as I love a good treadmill run, I did not do all 10 miles today in one shot. I just stopped the run and came back to it when I could. This type of running may end up helping me out in a race I have in January which is a last man standing style event. It is a gnarly trail run which requires you to run 3.5 miles in 50 minutes. I believe each lap will have 2 minutes deducted from the amount of time you have to complete the loop, so it will not take too long before you'll be tired and struggling to complete the lap in time. Hopefully I will be ready.
Lifting Summary: Overall I would say that it was a good lifting workout. My deadlift AMRAP set was at 300lbs. I was supposed to do 1+, so basically as many reps as possible. Well I pulled it 11 times for a new PR at that weight. It's actually funny that during a holiday party we hosted at my house a week or two back, one of my buddies pulled 325 lbs to take the highest deadlift record in my gym. Guess I will have to take that record back sometime soon. The rest of the workout consisted of Cleans, Weighted Chin ups, Reverse Curls, Wrist Curls, and plate pinches.
International mountain day ? Never heard of it but love mountains and love posting photos so that's a good enough excuse to post a collage of some of the mountains I've explored this year in Scotland, Wales and England😂👍 I managed to reach and then exceed the elevation gain I achieved last year by September this year, 55,000m done so I decided to take the rest of the year off and rest my legs which have been killing me since January😭
No mountain races next year, I'm done with them now but not lost my 💖 of getting high so will do as many @maverickrace events as I can and also go explore other places on my own or with Sally if she can overcome her fear of heights 💑
Beautiful day out in the forest today but a dog with a sore leg meant that it was just a walk in the forest and for once I ran on the road, which felt like a rare treat. I so infrequently run on the road now and it felt great to have the firm, flat, continuous asphalt under my road shoes!! You’ll never get me away from the trails for a good but every now and then it’s great to ring the changes!
Obviously a recycled picture because I was rushing to fit in my run before nap time and there is snow everywhere now 🤣
Treadmill isn’t always fun but the more I mentally prepare myself ahead of time for it usually the better it goes! So that’s what I always try to do. Until the slick roads clear up this prego can’t do much outside unfortunately 🤷🏻♀️ Running in the snow used to be my absolute favorite! ❄️ 7.1 miles total for the day with 20 minute warm up, 2 minutes faster/4 minutes easy, and a short cool down. My intervals were much less intense today because I did some yesterday too and wanted to make sure I didn’t over do it! ☺️
Feeling good to be back into routine! 🙌
Do you enjoy snow running? What’s your most enjoyable weather to run in?
Touring the lights in downtown New Orleans with two littles means you have to come prepared (bring all the snacks!) The @vooray bag I received at @therunningevent was perfect for holding everything we needed. I wore it all night for @lunafete and it was so comfortable. It is so versatile! It’s the perfect size for a trip to the gym or a fun excursion with the boys. And I love that their bags come in super cute, fun colors (swipe left to see). They’re stylish and functional without looking like a boring backpack. #bibchat#bibrave#bibravepro#vooraybr#trebr

One million podcast downloads this year!
Not yet anyways! 🏃
But, that’s what Matt Chittim, aka @rambling_runner, is on track for in 2018 with, “The Rambling Runner Podcast ,” his addictive show about amateur runners.
🏃♀️ And, here’s what really blew me away. Matt only started his podcast 18 months ago while working his day gig as a college fundraiser. How did he learn how to podcast? Google!!!!!

This week’s #MedalMonday goes out to all my 2018 marathons! 🏅 I came into this year thinking “this is the year of the PR”. I cut back on the number of marathons I ran (yes... running 10 marathons is cutting back for me). I trained for my new PR at Illinois Marathon (April). In March, I ran the Carmel Marathon and felt so strong, but was holding back because I had my goal marathon planned already. The weather was perfect that day and I ended with a solid time. Then at IL marathon, the heat & sun got the better part of me that day. I had a really strong half at GMP and then the wheels came off towards the end.... I ended almost 13 minutes off my goal time. The summer was a struggle for me and Dances with Dirt is my PW for a marathon. 😬 I’ve actually ran the 50K on that course quicker than I did the marathon that day. Again, the heat got the better part of me. I took it easy for the remainder of the summer, ready to come back for a fall PR in November and focused on bike rather than running (to get ready for my first century!) 🚲This fall marathon season has been one of the best for me! I ran Lakefront with a 4:09 which was my second fastest marathon ever!! 😳 I was so happy when I finished! I knew I was capable of that marathon PR that day and then all the stars aligned for me at Mt. Lemmon and I finally finished that sub-4 goal I’ve been chasing for years! 🥳 So here’s to all the tough times, hard work, and marathon memories from 2018! It was all worth it to see the hard work pay off in the end 💕
Disney World Marathon - 4:39:36
Carmel Marathon - 4:16:24
