#FitFriday🏃♀️ " Be stronger than your excuse"
This would be our weekly space to share and discuss more on fitness. You may use the above hashtag to record your stories and share it with us.
All of you who are interested to join me on my fitness journey, let me first congratulate you for taking the first and the most important step in the right direction. .
So, first things first. As much as I love the idea of just hitting the road with no real aim but just to enjoy my time, but I have realised that Doing anything aimlessly won't fetch any long lasting results. And that's why I have registered for a timed 10k race in Kolkata for Feb'2019.
But as you can see, the training plan I have downloaded here is of a half marathon. The idea is to train harder and see if I can achieve more than I have set myself out for. .
So go ahead register any race in your city as per your comfort. Download a training plan. And just go all out for it. .
All the seasoned runners on my friend list should definitely come ahead and help us on our journey with their wisdom. 😊😊
Thank you @sandeepbdesai for guiding me through this. 😘😘
Do remember one thing- This is the most important way to declutter your mind and get rid of all the extras from your body. This is what minimalism is all about. .
All the very best to all of us. See you on next Friday. Hope to share a lot more by then.

❤️BEST FOODS FOR RUNNING ❤️Superfoods for the Ultrarunner👍
Maca is a root vegetable originally cultivated in Peru, where the Incans consumed it before going off to war in order to sustain energy levels while fighting in battle. It is believed to do so “by allowing the body to increase its efficiency of oxygen consumption. Surges of oxygen naturally awaken the body and mind: allowing us to think clearer and move longer. It also nourishes and regulates the pituitary gland, which in turn creates homeostasis and allows the body to work more efficiently. It increases strength and endurance by allowing additional glucose in the blood stream, making it great for continued exercises after extended effort,” reports Manuel Villacorta, MS, RDN, author of Whole Body Reboot: the Peruvian Superfood Diet.
For this reason, maca is very good for pre-exercise fueling. Villacorta suggests adding maca to a pre-workout shake and he offers a few options on his website. Vega offers products containing maca, such as the Vega Maca Chocolate, Vega One Shake and Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator. Vega’s Education Manager and Fitness Expert, Andrew Raines, RHN, who is an ultrarunner, states that maca can also be used in recovery since it reduces inflammation by reducing the speed of stressful impact from exercise. Maca is a good source of amino acids and can nourish adrenal glands tired from the stress of exercise.

Boston marathon registration week is finally here! I started thinking about trying to qualify for Boston in April of 2017. I found a race to run, put a plan into place and started training thru the summer 😬💦 I think I started training too early and my training cycle was too long because by October I was burnt out! 🔥 My race was the last weekend in Nov. I felt great the first 14 miles even coming thru the half split in 1:41. But then I developed a huge blister and I ran out of steam. I hit the wall hard. Somehow I ended up pushing myself to the finish line with some really fantastic positive splits 🙄 And thankfully I got my BQ! Not the one I trained for or the one I’m sure I’m capable of. Hopefully my 5:05 buffer will get me into 🌟💫🌟💫 🌟💫 _______________________________________
The craziest part of all of this is I never ever dreamed I would qualify to run Boston! Just look at my marathon time from my first one 10 years ago. It was rough. I didn’t train properly. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing (I mean I ran a half the day before! 😂) Who knew I was capable of this?? * * * * * * * So so excited to register for my very first Boston marathon this Friday!!! 🤗🤗 #runnerslife#runninggoals#runninggirls#runningquotes#runninggear#runningculture#runningclub#runnerforlife#runninginspiration#runninglove#runnercommunity

My qualifying story 💙💛🦄 from
Boston Qualifier Spotlight ✨🦄 TEAL had labral hip tear surgery 4 years ago when she was training for her first marathon. She never made it to the start line 💔 But that didn’t stop Teal from DREAMING & CHASING! 2 years AFTER hip surgery she trained for & FINISHED her first marathon in 3:59!!! 8 months later, she ran her 2nd marathon in 3:53!
A few weeks after her 2nd marathon, Teal reached out to me saying, “I have a HUGE goal to qualify for Boston” 🦄🏃♀️ to get there, she would need a 19 min PR. We worked together to get her in the best shape possible! We knew Teal would get it it was always a matter of “when” not if.
✨ October 2017- 3:38 🙌🏻✨16 min PR after 4 months working together
✨August 2018- 3:31✨ BOSTON QUALIFIER!!
👊🏼🏃♀️Teal shaved off 22 min from her marathon PR in the 14 months we worked together! We cannot wait to see what is next for her.
👊🏼💪🏼 Thanks for showing the world it’s possible post-op! Her comeback is an inspiration.
