Consistency is 🔑. I did not want to run today. It’s been a long day and a longer week and temps were back in the 90’s. But, I ran anyway and ended up enjoying it. Then I came home and had a great workout with @getfitwithchey 😊 I hope everyone has a great week. #staystrong and be safe!
Recently, my travel has been crazy. Running in New Mexico at altitude was tough, but I found myself along a beautiful trail in NE Ohio yesterday. I have a special place in my heart for this area. I’m not from here, yet always am made to feel at home by people I meet. I’ve never been waved at along a trail more than on this run.
To me, running was always a communal activity. Running with the guys on the team, eating meals afterward, everything about it was group. In the last 3 years as I’ve returned to running, I’ve been a solo guy. Headphones in, podcasts blaring, get the run done and get home.
This river had other plans for me. I was wrapping up my run and to be 100% honest, I needed to pee. I saw a few ‘skipping rocks’ that looked like they needed to glide across to the other side. I took my headphones out, put my phone down, and skipped a few rocks. I thought about my grandfather, and for a few short minutes in Northeast Ohio, we skipped rocks together. He was the man that fostered my love of the outdoors, and it was fun to spend a bit of time together, at least in my head we did. Thank you Cleveland. See y’all later.

Mi primera media maratón
Si hace un año me hubieran dicho que en 2018 iba a correr una media maratón, nunca me lo habría creido. En mayo a duras penas pude con 15 km en Allianz... pero las ganas y la constancia pudieron más.
Mi objetivo era llegar a la meta sin parar, sin lesiones y sin ampollas.
Las ampollas fueron mi más grande miedo porque los últimos 3 meses de entrenamiento siempre, SIEMPRE, al terminar tenia ampollas en ambos pies 😔. Faltando un mes tomé el riesgo de cambiar de tenis. En adelante también me forré en microporo los pies (y las ampollas seguían apareciendo en los entrenamientos). El día de la carrera tomé un leap of faith, me puse el microporo, mis tenis ultra boost y salió bien!! Ni una sola ampolla 🎉. Respecto al tiempo, creo que poco a poco lo podré mejorar ⏱ Seguro vienen más carreras. Mi reloj polar m430⌚ mi eterna compañía toda la carrera porque me permitía mantener mi frecuencia cardiaca en aprox 163 bpm y mi paso en 6:23 min/km ➡️➡️ No me desboqué y mi reloj marcó la diferencia para ayudarme a llegar a la meta en calma 👣 Lo que más me llena de felicidad es haber terminado sin parar, sin fatiga, sin dolor y sin lesiones 🙆♀️.
