Today, I ran a mini hill workout and then did some 1:00 min intervals at a pace I raced a half at two years ago. ☝🏼 1 minute today vs 86 continuous minutes two years ago.
Returning to running postpartum (or even post injury) is HARD and feels even harder this time around🤷🏻♀️. Lately I have struggled to not compare myself to my pre-baby self. It is HARD to not let old workouts, paces or fitness determine my happiness at this moment. I mean, I know I can’t expect to be running paces I ran a year or two ago...the realistic part of my brain is like “hello, it’s been 4 weeks”...but I’m human and timehop has a lovely way of reminding me what I did 1, 2, or 5 years ago. I have returned from several runs questioning how I used to run so much faster or even how I will ever get back there.
Remembering where you used to be can be motivation for yourself - something for you to strive to work towards. But it shouldn’t determine your happiness or self worth...or make you feel pressured to return to where you were.
I’ve decided to follow the lead of my friend @losingrace...she shared that she deleted all her runs from her watch so that it was a clean slate for her post-baby. Each distance run and pace hit was a milestone for her and something to be celebrated.
So today I ran hard for 1 min at a time. It’s faster than I was able to do 3-4 weeks ago - and for that, I celebrated 🎉

PUT IN THE EFFORT 👊🏼
Today’s workout was 3x10 Minutes at MP Effort it was positive split city and a bit of a hot mess but ya know what I put in the effort and I didn’t give up! A lot of times workouts don’t feel easy and they don’t go perfect but if you go out there and give your best even if it doesn’t look pretty on paper you are better for it come race day! .
Anybody else ever glance at a clock while you’re getting ready and realize your have about 20 minutes less that what you thought? 🙋♀️🙀 That’s when it’s time to start making cuts.😫 Not everyone can make varsity. My go to quick eye makeup is to pick a neutral color to blend in all over my lid and crease. Simple enough right?😉 Then grab a brighter shade to smudge along the lower lash line.🌈 Super quick and super simple.🙌😍 Throw on your fave gloss and go!🏃🏻♀️ Eyes:
