Pulled into base camp of the HURT 100 this afternoon for a time of 33:25.
This race is crazy tough. The technicality of the trail is way above my skill level at night especially with the old "one eye" problem of no depth perception.
Consistent rain on the east side of the mountain and a bit on the west side last night made for slippery conditions on the myriad of boulders and roots and some sections were down right treacherous for me while trying to downhill in the middle of the night. I spent a lot of time sliding on my ass and back, cartwheeling from toe clips on rocks and stumps and headbutting low lying branches.
Naturally my lap time increased significantly during darkness and even though I made quick turnarounds at the aid stations I knew I wouldn't be able to repeat my 29:40 time from 2013.
I hustled as hard as my remaining granules of energy would allow on the final 20 mile loop and ignored my agonizing feet.
Rain, mud a sweat kept me damp for a day and a half and mixed a rancid cocktail of ultra- stench.
It's a fantastic race and the race management, volunteers and aid stations are classic Hawaiian hospitality.
🔹Running uphill: hold shoulders over hips, fall-Pulls low and quick, cadence increases with incline.
🔹Running downhill: hold shoulders over hips, keep knees bent and Pull quick, you will be in constant fall as ground is slipping away from you
The lotus is born at the muddy bottom of a pond. The plant pushes its stalk up through the mud and murky water to the surface where a beautiful blossom eventually blooms. In much the same way, we can elevate ourselves above the muddy thoughts and actions of our daily lives in order to become a better person. Unlocking our full potential to manifest and attract a better future.
Short edit of what I do on a regular basis. Calisthenics is my life. This sport is what I love and has cultivated into an enormous passion of mine. One day I want to teach/inspire people all around the world. Educating the importance of unlocking true happiness and spirutal prosperity through health/fitness. Blessing everyone with love and light
