When I was a kid I took a nap on the couch while watching some cartoons. A short while later, my dad woke me up "shhhh, don't move." He slowly reached behind me and grabbed something off my back.
It was a hummingbird, who had decided I would be the best place for a nap.
Hardly a week goes by that I don't think of that moment. This bird that can never seem to sit still, to stop it's constant movement, found solace with a creature equally as chaotic.
It's difficult for me to stop, to show down, to not become too obsessive about my goals. That hummingbird reminds me though to slow down, walk, sleep, and be zen. Even if it isn't my nature
“That’s the thing about running: your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success. They are moments in time when running allows you to see how wonderful your life is.” - K. Groucher | You know it’s going to be an amazing week when it starts off like this 😁 fasted 5k run. Happy Monday!

Thinking back to 2018 MLB All Star weekend. Met @catosterman , Brian Kenny, Carlos Peña. Saw the HR Derby. Saw the Futures game. Just an INCREDIBLE experience with @jmd348@johnhamlett , Trenton, Jarrod, and @teamrubicon .
Blessed to have this experience.
I always get questions some of the common ones are:
•“How did you do it?”. .
•“How/where did you start?”. .
•“What’s your secret, any tips or tricks?”. .
I’ll explain how I found success...but let me start with the failures and what it taught me. .
It took many, many, many failed attempts at weight loss before I finally was able to make it a lifestyle. I can’t even count how many times I’d lose 15lbs in a month, only to gain it back the next because I was no longer willing to keep up with it. You’re probably wondering, what changed that made me stick with it?? . . 💡I CHANGED MY MINDSET AND APPROACH TO WEIGHT LOSS!. .
I realized that what I was doing was no longer working so I decided to try something new. In my past attempts, I’d try changing my life overnight. I had 26 years of eating like crap and not being a gym goer, yet here I was trying to change and get rid of those habits overnight. As the saying goes, “Old habits die hard.” You can’t expect yourself to change your life that fast. .
Another problem with my past attempts, was trying to lose weight too fast. I was practically starving myself and after a month I’d rebound. I’d eat everything and I’d be back where I once was. .
With this knowledge of my failed attempts, I approached it differently the final time. I decided to start by making small sustainable changes to my life. Break. It. Down. It’s so much easier to manage!!! Once I was able to handle one change, I would make another small one. I also realized that this was a permanent lifestyle change...no end dates and no longer a race. .
So what did I personally do??? To be continued......

I’ve decided to do a mini 4 week challenge for myself. I’ve been really focused on running which is great but for the next month I really want to zone in on strength, logging those miles and nutrition. I’ve set some pretty lofty goals but for me, they are very realistic. I’ll be incorporating #BBG along with a 100 mile challenge and a couple other things. Nutrition will be key in order to get through this month. Looking forward to sharing the next four weeks with you guys!
If you ever get the chance to run the Falmouth Road Race, DO IT. From the postcard views of beaches, rolling hills, and seashore towns the whole way through to the wonderful community that rooted us on with high fives, guitar serenades, and lots and lots of cowbell (you can never have enough 😏) it was the most magical 7 miles I’ve ever run. And getting to spend time with some of the best runners in the NYC running community was such an honor and great learning experience. Thank you so much to Coach @johnhonerkamp & @newbalance for giving me this opportunity and for one of the best weekends I’ve ever had! Feeling motivated and re-energized to tackle the upcoming weeks of marathon training. Let’s do this. #newbalance#RoadtoNYC#falmouthroadrace2018#honerkamp100
This Saturday, August 11th, CrossFit boxes worldwide will be participating in the hero WOD “Saman“ in honor of volunteer rescue diver and former Navy Seal Saman Kunan. Saman died during the rescue mission to save 12 boys and their soccer coach in a flooded cave in Thailand.
Come join us as we honor this fallen hero.
Feeling fit is like a drug... I’m addicted to the feeling of becoming fitter and stronger, and pushing my body to its limits... but also to the relaxation it gives my mind when I run outdoors... and the fitter you are the more you desire it... it’s no longer a choice but a necessity for both my mind and body 🧘🏼♀️🙌🏼✨ By @missnellevz
Here's a bit of bod for those concerned as to whether or not I can actually produce the goods!.... 👊🏻
