5 miles this morning after taking 3 days off. Every day I took off, I felt like I was getting out of shape. Today’s run felt great because I had replenished my glycogen after a tough week last week. The difference between my run on Friday and the one today was like night and day. Make sure to get your body the rest and fuel it needs for optimal performance.
Yesterday I listened to my body and put off my first long run for half marathon training until today. Knowing full and well I probably wouldn’t want to go to the gym after work. ⠀⠀
Somehow I managed to get my butt in gear before I really got settled at home to talk myself out of going. ⠀⠀
I had a few minor malfunctions and honestly wanted to stop at 2.5 miles, but I needed to get to 4. I told myself I can’t quit. No matter what I do, even if I walk, I need to get to the 4 miles. Somehow that stuck with me and I hit my mark! (With a little extra since my watch never matches with the treadmill who said I actually did 4.5)
What are your goals and what motivation do you use to hit those goals? Sometimes while I’m trying to get myself up off the couch I wonder what others do to keep motivated? Sometimes I wish I had other alternatives so that when my mind tries to talk me out of it, I can snap right back.
Was able to finally get my long run in today. Seems this is my pace, pretty consistent at it. But, check out those two negative splits at miles 8 and 9. Woo hoo!! And, since I havent eaten all day, PIZZA!! I earned that! #runnersofinstagram#runforpizza#runnerofsteel
Sooo...about yesterday’s run...I’m going to call yesterday a series of unfortunate events. 🤷🏻♀️
I woke up tired, physically, mentally, emotionally...just all together pooped! I decided that rest might be the better option than a cold early morning run and actually laid back down. Well that didn’t work...I started feeling guilty that my training has already been sub-par, that this was FINALLY going to be my first double digit mileage in months and to top it off I had said I was going to be participating/donating to the CF fundraiser breakfast being put on for the runners so I got up, got dressed, snapped a few before pics (thankfully or they never would have happened) and headed out...this where it all started falling apart 🙈
❌ Went to the ATM to get $ for the breakfast—that didn’t work
❌Went back home to try to scrounge up $5–that didn’t happen
❌Got to run late, managed to just make it as my pace group was heading out and jumped in...only to realize I forgot to sign in and grab a route map
❌ Immediately had an “ice cream headache” like pain on the left side of my face making me miserable
❌ After running what seemed like a never ending up hill section of the route I couldn’t catch my breath and realized then my inhaler was still in my car... At this point I was ready to call it and just head back to my car but on a brighter note what I thought had only been a few miles had actually been 4! I decide then to take a few to catch my breath, fuel and just walk until the next pace group came along and just continue with them. This worked for 4 more miles!
Then I got a horrible cramp in my right foot and just couldn’t fight through it any longer so I dropped to a walk. I had only a vague idea of where we were and soon lost sight of any runners and as I said had no map 😣 so I used my phone gps and started hobbling to my car. I got cold QUICK being wet from sweating running, I was hurting and for a second felt pretty helpless as I realized I had no one I could even think about calling to come get me so I was gonna have to suffer through the 3 miles back to my car alone. Soon I recognized my surroundings and got safely back to my car. Next time I’ll stay in bed!
Running in the #steelcity 💛🖤 7 miles of exploring my favorite city, running over a bunch of bridges, and past some of my favorite spots! Last night my husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day and our upcoming anniversary at one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh and spent the night in the city. So I got to spend some time running this morning before we headed home. It was fun to just explore and enjoy the sites, sounds, and smells of the city! #runpgh#runnerofsteel#cityofbridges#cityofchampions
It's been almost a year since I started training for my first half marathon. I couldn't run for a mile straight, in fact I started training early so I could run/walk to get started. I stayed on our treadmill for as long as I could but once my training plan hit 7 miles for a long run, I knew I had to go outside.
If you've ever run before you know that running on the road is a lot harder than running on the treadmill. The ups and downs, weather, and a variety of other factors will make the run sometimes unpredictable. Starting in February, I was running in 20 degree weather. Needless to say it was a challenge.
Anytime I'm feeling like I can't accomplish something, I say to myself 13.1. 13.1 is the amount of miles I said I'd never be able to run. Dumb as it sounds, I feel like because I ran it I can do anything. If I wasn't such a chicken, I would have it tattooed on my wrist!
So needless to say, these fun peacock pants and top from @fabletics and the sun peeking out have me getting the running itch again! It's not going to happen this year, but maybe next?
Are you training for anything this year?
#pauvfit No dejes de intentarlo. Si la intención es buena, el resultado por mas tarde que llegue va a ser positivo ➕
Espero que mañana comiences tu semana con mucha energía y con la mente positiva para que todo lo que planees se logre. 🥰🤗 Buenas Noches 🌙
