If you ran one of the @5pointsoflife races this year, what did I you think of the course?
I ran the 5K last year on the previous course and it is so far the most painful race finish I’ve ever ran. What’s interesting is the first mile was a gradual decline and I ran my fastest mile split so far in a 5K race. Then, I killed my legs trying to maintain that pace going up the hill on Museum road before turning on Gale Lemerand about half way though the race. The last mile was mostly flat and downhill, but my legs had been wiped out on the hill, yet I finished with a PR at the time.
I was interested in run the half marathon on the old course, because it’s cool that it toured through Gainesville. I also now run through Haile and on Archer nearly every morning so it may not be as exciting for me. I understand though that it’s the Five Points marathon and not the Gainesville marathon so they really are welcome to locate the race where they want. Though out-of-towners interested in a big city race may not be as thrilled to travel for it, I can see the races becoming similar to others that don’t go through prime locations, yet still are a favorite among many (like Gasparilla) if they continue on this new course.
Two years ago.
I was at Disney with my family.
I sat while they road rides.
No rides for me.
Simply happy to be there.
Simply happy to be alive
6 weeks before that I had a brain surgery to remove a tumor.
And today, we are back at Disney.
Kids a little taller.
A little more hair for me.
A few more wrinkles too.
But this year....I’m riding all the rides.
A little thing like riding a roller coaster reminds me of how lucky I truly am.
Count your blessings my friends. 💕

Another one done!!! So a couple weeks ago a Ole Skool friend @Angela bug03 tagged me her instagram post. And it said why did you love your next run, it also gave a summary of her running history. So I’m finally getting to answer. I loved this run because it’s done, it gives me peace of mind that I can go on with my day and not have to worry about running later unless I want to.. So I started running a couple years ago not because I was a runner or really wanted to. I started running because I was talking to someone and interested in them and they ran, my goal at the time was to run, and maybe one day go running with the person or do a race together, well as life would have it, that didn’t work out, I continued to run and continued to improve and I set a goal for one of my jobs that had to do with running, when I accomplished that goal, I knew I couldn’t stop so I continued fast forward to today, I run on average 6-7 days a week I was running consistently at 3 miles a day, with an occasional 5 miler. I’m not the fastest runner or would I say I’m the slowest, I have good days and I have bad days. Some of the days @coachbennett@blue_benadum@charlie gets me through my runs. Recently I switched up my routine and I’m running less miles a day but have included weight lifting into my daily regiment. I’m still going strong with daily runs for the most part. I continue to run because I set goals whether it’s to see how fast I can run, how far I can run or whether I run to assist with my work outs and lowering the numbers on the scale which is ⬇️115. Pretty soon I’ll reset my goal and my run will be a part of it. I Run Every Day because if I don’t, I don’t feel right. When I skip running due to work or other obligations I carry that feeling with me all day and all evening, it’s in my head that I never ran and I push myself to make up for it, even if I have to do double the miles the next day. Running is now a part of me. That’s my story and if you have a run story or enjoyed your run. I’d love to hear it!! #dontquitgetitgetit#poundingthepavement#runforestrun#grinddaily#giveityourall#brooksrunning#nikerunclub

Due to the popularity of this in my instagram story, I figured it deserved a post! Took my braids out when I finished my workout, threw my hat back on and looked up into the mirror to discover disheveled Forest Gump. Tell me I don’t look like him😂. You’re welcome guys, you’re welcome.
