Hello sunshine! ☀️ Such a nice change in weather this weekend compared to the dreary days we've had the past few weeks. 10k race this #morning with the family. Some how I mustered enough energy to WIN pulling the @kidrunners - I was first overall in the 10k, beating males and females. First overall win with a stroller!! .
To be honest I didn’t have any motivation this morning for #racing from being up at night nursing a baby every night, a long work week with late nights and a hubby who didn’t get home until after the kids were in bed every night this week, getting up at 5:30 am on a Saturday was not on my wish list. When the alarm sounded I turn to my husband in bed & said “I don’t want to race today”
But after that horn sounds at the start line my legs know what to do, adrenaline pumping and my competitiveness kicks in. My goal wasn’t to let anyone pass me and to wear a smile. I will say weaving through people with a stroller is not fun but it’s easier to pull it a long. Even on those bad mornings, you surprise yourself. I can say I don’t regret this race & I had fun. 4th race since having the baby & can’t wait to see what 2019 holds. Grateful for this fun & family!! .
Oh and for a laugh: My oldest stepped in dog poop after the race & we noticed because of the stench in the car. Then we stopped for coffee and spilt the hubbies coffee not just once but twice. 🤦🏼♀️ so he got 2 drinks and my car now smells like peppermint mocha & we need to refill the emergency napkins. #oneofthosedays
I love my Saturday workouts. It means I can almost always take my time and really enjoy the time taking care of myself. 3.5 miles this morning with a quick arms and core workout after. Then home to stretch and foam roll before cleaning myself up for the day. .

So much fun as always #coaching my #cycleclass this morning. Did a leg and core #workout afterwards. My hips and just leg strength overall is not there and I know I need to work on #lifitng more. That is one of my challenges with any type endurance training is always getting that strength work in as well.🚴🏻♀️💪🏻 Happy Saturday, friends!! Going to enjoy the nice weather with my family❤️

For those that don't know, my wife Colleen @chemistrymother is the high school swim coach at the school she teaches at. Big props to all teachers out there by the way. Today her swim team has an all day event which has prelims in the morning and finals in the evening. What that means for me is that I get solo parenting time with the two kiddos. I look at these times as an opportunity to grow closer to the kids. When the children were super young, they both favored my wife in almost any situation. The alone times that I have gotten over the years has really helped them understand that I can also do many of the things she does (not all, she is a super mom after all). Now hopefully I can keep them clean, fed, entertained, and alive for another 8 hours. Wish me luck!
Running Summary: Since Colleen is out coaching, this meant that I had to rely on the treadmill to knock out my run. The kids wanted to watch Aladdin which I was ok with since it was one of my favorite animated disney movies growing up. It'll be fun to see how the live action film turns out for this movie when it releases. Now if only I could find a magical lamp or a genie.
Lifting Summary: Today was the final day on the first cycle of my modified 5/3/1 powerlifting program. I have not had a chance to look over numbers and analyze things, but so far I can say that I am feeling both mentally and physically strong. For my workout today, I knocked out a final set on OH Press of 140lbs x 8, and my final hang cleans set was 160lbs x 3 and then 1 more about 30 seconds later. The rest of the workout consisted of front squats, weighted pullups, and bodyweight chins.
Remember: always try to be nice and never fail to be kind.

Incattivirsi mai, però.
Si affronti sempre la verità, quando ci venga concesso di conoscerla: bella, brutta, sfrontata o inibita.
E si dica, ma con delicatezza...Sempre.
Perché se è facile imbastardirsi quando feriti, è maggiore l'audacia ad essere buoni, quando lesi. Perché in fondo lo sappiamo che il dolore non giustifica i mezzi e neppure il fine.
Allora - anche quando ci perdiamo - ci resta questa intramontabile fiducia a fertilizzare il cuore, dargli acqua ed estirpare gramigna...
E basta ripulire tutto, che poi pare quasi dipanarsi naturalmente la strada per ritrovare le cose belle.
3 wet and chilly miles this morning! Felt good to get back on a consistent schedule this week! Going to start adding in a longer run on the weekends. We’ve got a long ways to go before Wine and Dine next November but my goal is to be more prepared than ever before! 🏃🏼♀️💪🏻🎄🌧🌧
