Today I’m wearing a sweatshirt to Molly’s race that is older than she is. I actually got it when I was pregnant with her and a Jacquelyn was a Kindergartner to wear to Jac’s races. 9 years later I’m still wearing it and that baby that I was pregnant with is a 3rd grader and that Kindergartener is now in HS.. Thinking about it that way , Damn time flies 😕 #Tic Brown Elementary #gomolly#runfast#nostalgic#oldasweatshirt
Happy Thursday Everyone! This is a combo post for the two runs I was able to get in today.
The first run was a 10K in a new pair of Saucony Kinvara's. (picture 1) I have had them in a box for a while, but they finally got put into my rotation. I have always like this particular shoe model, because of how light and responsive they are. Hopefully I'll feel the same way after a few hundred miles in these.
The second run of the day was only a 5K in distance, but consisted of 10 hill repeats in the middle. I tried to keep the pace strong on the uphills and keep my cadence decent on the downhills without hammering the downhills too hard. It felt good for about the first 6 reps, and then I started to struggle some. Thankfully the workout was short 😂 The shoes I wore for this run was my pair of Brooks Launch. (picture 2)
My shoe rotation is currently: Saucony Ride (longer runs), Saucony Kinvara, Saucony Zealot, Brooks Launch, Mizuna Wave Sayonara, New Balance Zante, and Nike Wild Horse. I love to have a variety of shoes, but prefer the lighter and less cushioned models. As you can also tell, I am not particularly overly attached to any one shoe maker too. What shoes are your current favorite? Anything particular you look for when buying your shoes?
I flipping love running with the #southportwaterloostrollers and, even though it was raining pretty heavily tonight, there were still nearly 20 of us out there running. Each of the group's did so well but I'm especially proud of the run group who did negative splits and ran a 5k like it was nothing 👊🏻💪🏻🏃🏼♀️
Have to give a massive thank you to @run_sal_run for allowing me to help out and giving me the opportunity to make some real friends, my first ones since moving to the north 15 months ago ❤️

❤️BEST FOODS FOR RUNNING ❤️Superfoods for the Ultrarunner👍
Maca is a root vegetable originally cultivated in Peru, where the Incans consumed it before going off to war in order to sustain energy levels while fighting in battle. It is believed to do so “by allowing the body to increase its efficiency of oxygen consumption. Surges of oxygen naturally awaken the body and mind: allowing us to think clearer and move longer. It also nourishes and regulates the pituitary gland, which in turn creates homeostasis and allows the body to work more efficiently. It increases strength and endurance by allowing additional glucose in the blood stream, making it great for continued exercises after extended effort,” reports Manuel Villacorta, MS, RDN, author of Whole Body Reboot: the Peruvian Superfood Diet.
For this reason, maca is very good for pre-exercise fueling. Villacorta suggests adding maca to a pre-workout shake and he offers a few options on his website. Vega offers products containing maca, such as the Vega Maca Chocolate, Vega One Shake and Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator. Vega’s Education Manager and Fitness Expert, Andrew Raines, RHN, who is an ultrarunner, states that maca can also be used in recovery since it reduces inflammation by reducing the speed of stressful impact from exercise. Maca is a good source of amino acids and can nourish adrenal glands tired from the stress of exercise.
