Nice 18 and some change in a great morning. No I wasn't cold, yes I'm still hanging on to my shorts. Sorry to everyone following me at mile 2...I just wanted to add a bit on to your long run 🤣 @swiss_mr and @rhoda_miel already know I can't be trusted to lead at any race or run.
First 10.5 miles was full of people but the last 8 I was solo for AR pace. It was nice until I did awful math as I tried to figure out how far out and back I had to go from the store (where I was at 10.5) to get to 18 when I returned. After some inaccurate number crunching with my head swirling about due to #longrunbrain I ended up doing 18.5.
Now feet up the rest of the day while I watch IM World Championship! Definitely rooting for @lsanderstri and @sarah.b.true !!!!! #runannarbor#longrun#phillymarathon#neverfollowme#hokaoneone
Mischief: managed ✅✅✅
Like all things, 26.2 was only possible with the help of my team - my friends and family who coached me through every step of this journey (or just listened to me complain). Big thanks to my co-runners and besties Nora and @pbnicholsonjr , my amazing sister @katiebertsche for coming in from Cali (!), my mom @jbbertsche for fortifying me with pasta as only a true Italian mother does, my dad @tbertsche for sharing his past Thon experiences and my in-laws @laurenmurto and #firstfriends@leighmon1 And @marthacclarke for watching me in the rain! As much gratitude as my heart can hold to my husband Michael for jumping in at mile 17 and all the foot massages along the way. No thanks at all to my dog Schuyler who ate my running shoes the day before the race 🐶 #lastmilefastest#runannarbor
Spotted: me in the wild, where I’ve reignited my passion for movement, the outdoors, and staying present in every mile. 🌲 🏃🏻♀️ Thanks to @avery_stumm for capturing runners out there yesterday morning at the Treetown Tussle!
For moderate pronators the New Balance 860 is a durable shoe with premium materials. It has a stability post on the medial side just under the arch to counteract the pronation.
The latest outsole has been specifically tailored to work equally well on wet or dry roads, so when you’re running long, the weather can turn and you won’t have to. Try a pair on at your local Running Fit! @nbrunning#newbalance#runningfit#runningshoes#runannarbor#downtownannarbor#runmichigan#localrun

Today was one of those days that I would choose to live over and over again. Started the morning with a 13.1 mile run, 9.5 miles of trails at the Treetown Tussle fun run at AARC Kerrytown. So much fun, with 948 feet of climbing. Got to watch Mo Farah win the Chicago Marathon on the screen at the store. Then I was off to Bivouac for a free yoga class and that was very much needed after tearing up the trails. After that I headed to the U-M Campus Farm for the Annual Harvest Festival and got to learn all about the local food culture on campus and SE Michigan! Such an awesome day, and a great way to close out a busy homecoming weekend!
Learning to practice at least one act of self care a day— today it’s treating myself to a sweet matcha latte at Plum Market from Zingermans’s Coffee Company. 😋 Nice reward for a solid speed session this morning, 3x1600 at 6:36 avg pace with a 600 walk in between sets. Goal was 6:30-6:40, and nailed it in 70 degree weather and 95% humidity 💪🏻 🏃🏻♀️ 7 miles total with warm up and cool down. Happy Tuesday!
Dudes, Yoga is H A R D
While I was in Napa over the weekend, my mom asked me to come to a yoga class with her. I had my long run the day before so I was due for a little stretching. And let me tell you, I am still sore from it last Sunday. It’s crazy how we can train our minds and bodies to endure 2+ hours of nonstop movement, but ask me to hold chair pose for 60 seconds and my thighs are burning and my mind wants to quit! Why is it so hard to be still and in the moment?? 🤷🏼♀️ Anyway, shout out to my bestie @greekyogini for making it looks so effortless and graceful. Taking a page from your book today on my rest day! 🤗🌟
“Someone once told me not to bite off more than I could chew. I said I’d rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity” - Robin Arzon
Sometimes I scroll through Instagram and I’m defeated by other’s success. The comparison game gets in my head and I say, “Oh I shouldn’t even follow her/ him because I’ll never be that good/ fast/ strong/ toned etc.” I have to constantly and consciously make the choice to not compare myself to their journey. Yes I would LOVE to run at a 7 min/mile pace for 10+ miles and I would LOVE to have abs of steel but I am also on my own journey! The highlight reel in these little boxes doesn’t begin to shed light on the ups and downs of each persons individual journey. Instead of being defeated, I chose to remind myself that I’ve come so far and that I will get there if I continue to put forth the effort and put in the time!! From the moment you wake up until the second you fall asleep, you’re faced with thousands of choices. CHOSE yourself. CHOSE to get off the couch and go for your first run in 2 years. CHOSE not to accept failure. CHOSE to see yourself as capable, able bodied, and full of potential! Because you are!!! Get out there and move today! Do it for you because you are worth it!! 🌟💦💪🏼
