No race last weekend was really weird. There was no one to whom I could give $30 for a shirt and a coupon for 10% off cheese dip. There was no finish line. There was no yelling. I just...stopped...running.
But not again! Because as long as I've lived here I've never seen the Cummins Prison Band. That has to change!

Join us tomorrow night by the riverwalk. Watch some cycling .. have some refreshments from Lost 40! 🚴♀️🍻
I thought the end of summer was the end of road rash. I was very wrong. ⬆️ Very sad knee, very sympathetic cat.
I did something completely out of character last night and actually went. To. A. Social. Function. Where I knew no one. I've never been in a running club (bc obviously when I run I do things like fall a lot, or not actually set a race goal until I can see the timer at the end) so I thought I would check out this alien phenomenon and went to a club meeting. I met a grand total of three (3!) people and learned I do not want to be an ultra trail runner. Sleep is way too important. *
Long Run today since Sunday can't handle this kind of distance. 😁🏃 Surprisingly, I felt pretty good. I did end the run with a bit of an twinge in my ankle but nothing too bad.
Marathon training is officially back on track. 👍
Nothing like waking up sick before the weekend 😷🤧😪. 20 miler is out, weather is gloomy, and tailgating tomorrow is a no-go. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I’ve started working on my 2019 Little Rock Marathon training plan. This fall racing schedule got thrown all out of whack with my hamstring injury, but now that I am close to being back, it’s time to chart a new goal. Look out 2019, I’m coming for you. #running#runner#run501#runarkansas#littlerockmarathon#littlerocknarathontraining#marathon#marathoner
Today's 5K was good!!! No PR but lots of people in costumes including tiny runners so that was good.
Person With Loudspeaker: OK, now we're gonna do the Kids' 400m Fun Run. They're gonna go down this way a tenth of a mile, turn around, and come back a tenth of a mile.
If it were adults: THAT IS ONLY 322 METERS WHERE IS THE RACE DIRECTOR ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TURN AROUND AND GO ANOTHER 78 METERS HELP I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
But since it's kids: Didn't hear a word of it; turn around where everyone else does; sprint the entire way in a dinosaur costume .

Some days, things just click. And you get negative splits without really trying. 😎
Today was a tempo run, and after 5 days of not running I was a bit afraid to lace up. I'm so glad I did though. I felt awesome after the first mile and when I looked at my pace, I was shocked. Sub 9? Heck yes. I thought I'd try to up the pace a smidgen and try to hold it for at least half the mile, and I was able to hold it for the whole thing. Not super quick, but quicker than the first one 😂 About half way through the run, I was mentally planning the rest of the course. And it paid off. At the beginning of the third mile, I decided to up the pace even more. Crazy, but I knew I needed to challenge myself physically and mentally to really progress towards the marathon distance.
This run was awesome. Best tempo run I've had in a long time. 🏃
Awesome CATA Monthly Social last night at Vino's Pizza-Pub-Brewery! Special thanks to Debbie Doss for speaking about some of the amazing water trails in Arkansas. More incredible trail systems that must be seen! 🌿🌳🌱 #traillove#arkansas

Benchmark run again. Since I didn't have actual speed work in my #NikeRun plan, I opted to skip the track workout this week. Plus, I needed to get this done for sure so my plan can update with more helpful runs.
7 min Warm up
3 min Fast-Faster-Fastest
5 min Cool down
The next RUN CAFE' is this Friday, at 7am.
Kyle Kifer from Elite Functional Rehab will teach us how to avoid lower back pain. Listen, take part, and bring your questions. @elitefunctionalrehab#run501#runcafe
I cut the number of intervals down a bit due to the heat. And I kept the pace kinda conservative since I have been awake since 330am and need sleep...
But I feel so good after a hard workout. It makes me a happier person, which is good for everyone I talk to. 😅
No orchestra at church this morning meant I could safely go for a long run with a group. And I'm so happy I went.
I was a tad later than everyone else but I managed to catch up with some of the guys. Jack and Chris were nice enough to let me hang with them and talk enough to keep me distracted 😁
I intended to only get 6 miles in, but I'm just too competitive and stubborn. So I stayed with them the whole time, and they stayed with me when I had to walk up the hill.
It felt amazing to finish strong.

Tuesday mornings are for running.
And I love that there is a group of ladies who meet during the summer. 🏃♀️ They even extended the running camp for 2 more weeks!
The temp was down a bit today, so I was game for 5 miles when Jen suggested it. And I'm so happy I had her with me. Company is vital when I am covering more than 3 miles 😝 Especially on those hills!
#tracktuesday is turning into one of my favorite days of the week.
Today was the last training day for the Go! Mile race on Saturday. And it felt awesome. I wasn't super exhausted but I know I worked my legs hard core. 👍
Goal is 7:00 min/mile and I kept all my repeats today under that. Now to eat and shower and sleep. 😴

Not gonna lie, I intended to cover twice this distance. I'm sad I had to deal with so much heat. And I'm sad I couldn't tough it out more. My legs are still recovering from yesterday's workout.
Tomorrow is another day. And these legs are gonna do some more miles. I'm still a runner. And that's something to be proud of.
