Final 15 miles before my 15th marathon - Chicago! ⭐️ I’m writing this from an ice bath and can’t feel my lower extremities... so this is a great distraction 😯😆
Still riding that high from today’s miles:
7 miles easy
6 miles @ 7:52 pace (goal was 8:02)
2 miles cool down.
15 total @ 8:30 pace
No stopping, practiced fuel and hydration on the run, and didn’t shy away from a hilly course.
Another confidence booster in the bank.💰
Two weeks until the party in Chicago! 🎉🏃🏼♀️
It's time. I have finally got myself mentally prepared for tomorrow. Has the season gone as planned? No. Am I where I physically want to be for this event? No. Is there anything I can do about it now? No. Very simple. For me this event is about having fun. Going to tune out the masses (myself included) and just run my own race. It's still difficult to accept this as a season ending event. I take my athletics quite personal and it's a story that will have to be told at another time. But for now I am just recalling my past nine seasons of endurance multisports.
Nine years. I have been blessed with so many opportunities that have taken me across the country and meeting wonderful people along the way. It's a great community. And that applies here in Augusta. To the transition area volunteer captain (who's name I did not get), thank you for the hug. It meant a lot. Happy Training. #hshive#honeystinger#rudyproject#rudyprojectna#smoothieking#smoothiekingathlete#athelitenation#swim#bike#run#triathlon#xterra#ironman#ironman703#ironman703augusta
Off season starting great! Without taking off the race wheels ... me Charlie and momma went for a nice little bike ride and Charlie loved it!! He didn’t like his helmet after about 30-40 minutes... but he was having a great time!!
We were out at a hot Harvest Moon Long Course Triathlon this weekend pb @withoutlimitsco! @usatriathlon
Dan Eslinger: 2nd in age group, 25th overall with a time of 4:47 and a PR in the bike split by 11 min - congrats!
Pavel Verbsky: 12th in AG with a time of 5:39
Elliott Chiu: 11th in AG with a time of 6:11 - and an overall half iron distance PR of about an hour - way to go!

Today’s workout called for 8 mile tempo. Right out of the gate I felt sluggish and no energy. A lot going on in my head lately and one of them was waiting for that damn B.A.A. email to come through. I seriously think that waiting for the acceptance email is more stressful than running your BQ. Today’s workout should feel comfortable as it’s only at tempo pace. I’ve been training to get back into it to see if I can run a PR at NYC this November but during the run today I realized that my fitness is no where near it was before I got injured. Yah it sucks but I need to accept it. There’s no need to push yourself when you’re still rebuilding. Sure I will keep giving it my all on these workouts but I also need to accept that recovery takes time. I decided to cut the 8 mile tempo to a 6 mile tempo and ease the pace up a shade. I started to think about my son, Sam, and his daily battle of Crohn's Disease. This morning he had his 8 month routine infusion. Here I am stressing about a damn race when my son is fighting an incurable disease but never shows signs of fear with us. That right there reminded me what's important.
During my last mile tempo my watch buzzed with an alert from B.A.A. Registration. My heart raced so I tap the next button to see more of the email’s subject line. ‘2019 Boston Marathon Confirmation of Acceptance’ it read. Needless to say that last mile tempo felt so much better. Patience is hard for everyone especially athletes that strive on pushing themselves harder every day. Today taught me that lesson. Now that we are certain of Boston for next year, it’s time to focus on ‘keep showing up’ and set out to completed what we’ve started for @nycmarathon with @letmerun_boys.
As I look to my son, Sam, as my role model and what he does every day...do your best, don't give up, keep your head held high, finish hard and be thankful. #nevergiveup#2019boston#marathontraining#chicagomarathon#tcsnycmarathon#runkalamazoo#runwithheart#keepshowingup#bethankful#runhappy#bocogear#bocogearambassador#rudyprojectna
When you get photobombed by a cone! 😆 That's pretty much how I feel about this morning's ride. My legs felt like they were pedaling through cement and my body just was not having it. 🤷♀️ Oh well! They can't all be good! Per Coach @where_your_feet_take_you, I let myself be disappointed for a 15 minute shower and now I'm moving on and focusing on crushing my swim tomorrow! 👊
