I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, THIS IS ME
Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, THIS IS ME! 👊🏼

📷 Hitting the week head on!! Training paces have been calculated!
🏃 A lot of us are guilty of it, I certainly am. It’s really hard when you love running, to hold back when you are feeling great and not hit each run pretty hard. Running smart is even more challenging when comparing yourself to others on social media and running apps.
👟 Since I’ve been making sure my easy runs are actually easy, my times have been dropping and I’m getting injured less! It sometimes feels counter productive but it’s enabled me to get the miles in and make sure the hard sessions were definitely hard! Otherwise by pushing it hard each session, although I saw some gains initially, eventually I was constantly in a fatigued state and it takes the fun out of it for me.
⏰ My approx. training paces based on a 10k race time of 37:30 are:
Easy run pace is: 7:31 min/mile
Tempo run pace: 6:14 min/mile
Interval effort pace: 5:12 min/mile
Long run pace: 7:30 to 8:30 min/mile
🏃 Just to illustrate at my old 10k time of 45:00 my easy run pace would have been around 9:00 min/mile, I was definitely not sticking to this.
🎅 I highly recommend working out your paces and trying to throw in at least 1 or 2 easy days after a really hard session.
🎄 Take it easy! 😉
Medal Monday, minus the medal because there wasn’t one. —
Wow. That was hard. In both directions we waded through the estuary that was mid thigh deep. This was the most challenging aspect for me because I felt like I didn’t want I do it both ways. It was actually fine and was another of the many moments when running and sport proves me wrong about my belief in my own capabilities. My head torch died and when it was alive it barely made a difference so that made this a bit more challenging that it needed to be. I walked a lot. This was a 100% “it wasn’t fast but it was done” moment. Luckily I had my phone on me for a torch and found my way around the route despite definitely losing to the light. The light won this year... let’s see about next year.
Happy to be back mostly painfree today. Took a couple days off last week and then tried to get back into it prematurely unfortunately. But another couple days has done me some good. 5km at 4:10/km tonight and hopefully be able to get some more good runs in before the festive period makes that a little more harder 💪🏼💪🏼🏃🏻♂️
I have been particularly absent recently, but life can’t always be sunshine and rainbows. It has been crazy busy as well, working through Christmas means that I have been celebrating early with family and friends over the past few days. Back to reality tomorrow though and a new training schedule which hopefully won’t leave me feeling so burnt out
