finally finished the #robertscollection dungarees i actually started last year for springtime... and i was too lazy to finish and hem the legs... decided to make them like 7/8 to get a bit air on my ankles.
i can‘t pose for a camera and i hate self-portraits. so yeah. this is what ya get. #sewing
Loving my new yellow Marilla Walker Roberts collection dress. I made view C in a heavy duty sunshine drill. Love the structured look of it but couldn't capture it's goodness in the windy weather today....settled for this arty shot of the shoulder strap instead. I omitted all of the fastenings as just want to pull it on and go (and am not yet confident in button holes or anything even slightly technical!).
Popped into @seasaltcornwall this afternoon and really drawn to these linen dungarees and even my husband didn’t turn his nose up at the design 😂
I’m thinking they are incredibly like @marillawalker#robertscollection dungarees... I’m being tempted again 😍
Almost finished this #robertscollection view c1 in snuggly curdoroy. Wanna know what my partner commented: It's not quite flattering for my body. He also said it was looking like a "Kittelschürze" 😩😩😩 ... I have not put in the snaps yet as I am unsure about how high I want it to sit. I think the bib needs to come up higher and a crew neck or boat neck shirt underneath would look better too or as I plan to make next a funnelneck shirt ( #feinesirmchen) from some navy/white striped knit 😁. Obviously going to wear it anyway as I like it and I don't have to please someone elses eyes with my appearance, especially someone who is not taking wardrobe advice from me either ... 😜😜😜
Pattern is from @marillawalker and the collection includes another 3 patterns of which I plan to make 2 (the shirt and the overalls).

My new favourite outfit. #robertscollection made with a hemp/tencel fabric from #dittofabrics. Really lovely drapey fabric with texture in but didn't like to stay still so had to work hard on getting the pockets to lay flat. Best dungaree dress every with pockets😉 Made mid calf version and have worn this all week and can see me wearing it with vest tops if we ever see the sun again. Top is a #paolaturtlenecktee#namedclothing such a lovely top and great fit again fabric #dittofabrics. Off to make the dungaree part of the pattern whilst children at school disco and cubs😀
I made a toile for the #robertscollection pinafore at long last. I used this dubious fabric that was in a bag of donated fabric. It clings like billyo and it had two small stains which I could not get rid of and didn't notice until I tried the garment on. So I made these two flowers to cover them... and it was only afterwards when I recognised the Mary Quant influence 🤪. So I dug out these earrings from my jewellery box... which I'm afraid are from the 80s, not the 60s. I need to size down for the real thing (there are clothes pegs down the back) and hoping I love it as much as I love everyone else's. As for this... I don't think I'll wear it but it won't go to waste. #SewOver50
New project #robertscollection view c2 (the knee length skirt) - I traced the pattern almost 3 years ago (the trouser version is also waiting). Fabric is a snuggly wide wale curdoroy 😁... #sewingwip
Edit: Well I realized while reading the instructions I am actually making view c1 😂😂😂
I made this as part of a quest to dress like my avatar in Pokémon Go. It’s #robertscollection#marillawalker overalls as shorts in Homecraft textiles oxblood cotton drill with Spotlight Japanese lawn lining and #merchantandmills buttons. Sewing notes: lengthened the rise and added a squared 2” to the legs to roll up as a cuff. The straps are widened. Top is #mayatop with a cuff as a sleeve in a Japanese linen from Homecraft. The location was my bedroom from age 6 to 14, now a guest bedroom/ archive

I never FaceTune or edit my body or clothes, because I think it’s important people can see what I actually look like! I occasionally photoshop things out of the background (let me know if you’d like to see a video of that!) but otherwise it’s a colour boost and onto the feed!

This little pink label may look unassuming, but I am going to be bold and say you’ll want to use one in everything you make from now on... and it’s easy to pair with your own brand labels or other #labelsbykatm .
These clothes are made with care, let’s remind ourselves and others that we should take care of our belongings to prolong their lifespan. .
I truly believe that by simply adding any label to a garment that you make, it will create a greater sense of worth, and we will be more likely to use and wear the garment because of the finishing touch a label gives. It also is the same with gifts we make for others. I might be dreaming about this but I feel like if you donated an item you made, it it had a label inside, that it *might* just make it onto the rack of a thrift store (instead of getting dumped or burned of shipped offshore) .
Buy less, make less, more better choices and we will make a difference :)
Available to purchase direct from my online shop on Feb 1st, or check with your local stockist because there are quite a few that have these in stock now :) .
Stockists comment below if you’ve got them available!
. #justinereadytosew de @ready_to_sew ¡Además es un patrón gratuito!

¿Qué proyecto haríais primero?
Yesterday I finished and wore my #robertscollection Pinafore/Dress to a party, and it’s always funny because my husband is my biggest fan and after a beer or two he is saying things to people like “my wife makes things” (I know I shouldn’t, but I truly find it embarrassing) and he calls me over and starts pointing out all the things I have on that I made. This particular day it was the dress, the t shirt, my bag, my shoes, my earrings and of course, the labels. I do feel proud that almost everything is me made, but still @coadyb - stop it!!!!! .
Run through of the outfit....

Something about pocket facings that make me super happy inside! Making up a @marillawalker#robertscollection dress in this Oatmeal heavyweight linen remnant I scored from @wearethefabricstore the other day! There’s only tiny shreds of fabric left over #almostzerowaste .
The grey gingham was a men’s shirt :) .
Going to live in this dress once it’s done. Oh I should mention these facings are not part of the pattern and I really had to cut them because of my minimal fabric to work with.
Tell me your Monday achievements, be they small or mighty!
Luca and I went to our first dog training class - we’re doing an intro to obedience course, and while Luca was DEFINITELY the worst dog in the class, he wasn’t too bad, and hey, everyone has to start somewhere!! (Plus he was also the biggest dog in class so I had more dog to control than the others 😂😂)
Also rocking my homemade chambray overalls, made with the ever-reliable @marillawalker Roberts Collection pattern with @spotlightstores fabric. I even made a matching scrunchie! (Swipe ⬅️ for proof)
This year I'd like to do a monthly #patterncrush where I pick the designer whose patterns I'm swooning and drooling over. This month I'm swooning over the pattern collections from @marillawalker. At £7.50 her patterns are some of the most affordable UK patterns, especially considering that each pattern is a collection of different shapes and styles enabling you to make a variety of outfits from one pattern! My favourite is the #iscashirtdress. The lines are quirky, without being crazy, simple and not overly girly, which is exactly how I like my patterns. Plus there is a free expansion pack to turn your shirt dress pattern into a fantastic shirt pattern. I loooooove a free expansion pack. The #robertscollection is INSANE value for money, giving you a whole cute, cosy wardrobe with one pattern. I also like the #mayatop as a multipurpose wardrobe builder. Go and check out the hashtags and see all the amazing makes. If you're looking for something a little offbeat, a little boxy, and a whole lot of awesome, then spend January sighing over these patterns with me. Better yet, go online and grab one!
Some details of my recently finished @marillawalker#robertscollection overalls. I had to add a seam across the back because these were WAY too long in the torso for me. But I recently realized that I measured for all my alterations while standing so sitting in these babies is.... not so fun for the lady parts. Going to add maybe 2” to the straps for a little more sitting room. Note to self: when fitting jumpsuits check the fit when both standing AND sitting 😬.

After a fair bit of tweaking I finished my @marillawalker#robertscollection dungarees in ‘nutmeg’ linen from @merchantandmills. I added a pocket onto the front and lengthened and tapered the legs. If anyone wants me I’ll be in a field digging up potatoes 😉
I have also added in a headshot for my sister @louise_speck who thought it was wierd that a lot of the sewing peeps of instagram chop their heads off the photos. So in the spirit of @pipwilcoxceramics here is my 45 year old bare naked face 😊
I made a Dungaree Dress! 💥
I thought it would take me all weekend but it was so much faster than I anticipated... Oh I am in love! It might be a bit too ‘teen’ looking for what I am used to, but I really wanted to give Dungarees a try. It’s like wearing a dress without being so dressed up.
Here in Argentina people don’t wear dresses as an everyday garment (I do!), so these Dungarees might be a bit more casual looking to just hang out at home.
Thank you @marillawalker for making all the patterns of my dreams!
Pattern: Roberts Collection view C1 (these patterns are a steal at that price!). Size: top 4 graded to a 5 in the bottom.
Mods: Many. I made the bib quite higher that in pattern and wider too. Straps twice the width. The buttontab is also about 4 cm longer but I only used 2 buttons anyway (just spaced them more apart). Shortened it by about 10 cm.
I didn’t want the straps to button at the front so instead I seamed them to the bodice as directed for the back. I just tried it on MANY times to make sure I was doing it right and not twisting them! 😅
Free-handed top-stitching everywhere (it stretched out a bit when sewing horizontally)
Fabric: stretch heavy weight denim that I hope distresses nicely.
What do you think of dungarees?
