6LACK - SWITCH - SONG REVIEW - PART 2 - He had parts where he’s even talking to us, the people too. How we should look at his perspective of things, because we’re not always right. The 2nd verse starts off with the girl’s perspective of things and 6LACK’s answer to all her things. When 6LACK answers, he takes it from both perspectives, while she only backs herself up. The post-chorus really is the icing on the cake here with the song. All it is, is ‘Well, well well, well, well, well well…’ those words really express how ambivalent he’s feeling. All over the place. Sadness, confusion, regret, annoyed, maybe even optimistic. That’s what I receive from these lyrics and, not going to lie, I love that. I think everyone is meant to receive it differently – ‘well’ is an ambiguous word. - What I love about this song is the construction. The right lyrics, appropriately manipulated melody and how that all comes together to create a beautiful RnB type ballad. I’m giving this a 9.5/10. Just because I didn’t really think that 6LACK ended it enough on the outro. The song didn’t come to a close properly for me. All the song needed was a few more lines as I think that ‘She wasn’t really good at keeping up’ (the last line) can be elaborated upon. Maybe 6LACK wanted us to be inquisitive at the end. 6LACK – SWITCH – SONG REVIEW – PART 1 - 6LACK, an upcoming artist, presents us his 2nd single of 2018 – Switch. In it, is a beautifully depicted idea of what it would be like if you switched bodies with someone. In this case, it’s his girl he’s switching bodies with. How would she feel in his body, in possession of thoughts? How would she react? Well, 6LACK covers both sides of this argument that he’s turned into a song. I found it very clever for him to speak from both perspectives in the song. - Now, let’s talk about the beat – all it is a simple drum beat, complemented by a piano and mellow sounding chords. Repeated too. 6LACK, accompanied by Ty Dolla , were able to make the music of this song a lot better by adding autotuned ad libs at the end of quite few lines, whether that be the line repeated, or just a word relating to it. ‘A small-town girl, now she all famous. (Switch)’ That ‘Switch’ at the end is Ty Dolla , reiterating the ‘switch’. It really makes this song a lot more melodic, which was a nice idea so that the song was more harmonically pleasing. 6LACK and Ty Dolla really spiced up the beat doing that. Vocalizing from both of them spiced it up too – even their words made music. I loved it. - The lyrics are… extremely beautifully constructed. The first verse talks about how 6LACK is falsely assumed for what he’s not. So, he tells her girl, (and, with subtlety, to the people) ‘Let’s switch bodies for a day, You can be me and I could be you, Juggle the pile of shit that’s bound to come through.’ The chorus: questions. This isn’t what you expected, was it? ‘Wasn’t what you though it was?’ He made this, and the whole song, extremely conversational – 6LACK made it clear that he’s in a rut with his partner in this song.
