The mentioned effect can be applied to a wide variety of audio signals. In my opinion, saturation sounds better when applied to certain types of sounds only. Drums are maybe one of the best sounds to be processed with it. You can not go wrong with recording live drums using the finest microphones and preamps, but even then they could sound even better with some grit and attitude. Saturation can significantly help with that while not over coloring the original sound of the drums. It will add a certain amount of harmonics, which sounds pleasing to the ear of the listener. Also, it will introduce a bit of natural compression and perceived loudness. You can go extreme with the overall amount of saturation. However, you’ll get the best effect when you apply only reasonable, small amounts.

I have been trying very hard to like a word more than I like “IKIGAI”, but it’s not so easy to beat the beauty of this one!
IKIGAI in its true sense means “the reason for being.” Most often people lose a sense of existence and come to a crossroads where they wonder what they have been doing and what they ought to do in the future. When you live with a “reason” strong enough to wake you up every morning, with a sense of ‘purpose’, you know you have found your Ikigai.
People with Ikigai rarely question obstacles, because they have a deeper sense of purpose, they show commitment to their tasks, irrespective of roadblocks because the ‘process’ is as exciting for them as the destination. When you are ONE with your craft and purpose, there is an effortless feeling of oneness with both success and failure, because the outcome matters less than the JOY of doing what you are doing.
