I’m a little late to the party, but around this time a year ago #sweetnightmares and #hypertensivefilms premiered #ElLuchador! At the time, it was my most ambitious undertaking as a film producer. I was scared and nervous, but @missingcosmonaut was an excellent leader and director as we wrestled this heavyweight short film into cinematic existence. Since then, it has been an honor to see the film flourish at film festivals across the globe.
Big thanks to our tireless and fearless collaborators: @gavilandeoro.ela for his strength and charisma, @pascalfilm for his ingenuity and talent, @belenoreb for her prowess and skill, @xaviercharcas for his dedication and maturity, @benderofsound for their musical artistry and auditory excellence, @laserdanger for his patience and sensory perfection, @jwarnerpark for his guidance and intelligence, @nilerivers_official for his passion and commitment, and for everyone else that worked so relentlessly and passionately to make this film happen. You guys are the real champions.

Nella facilità dell'amore
il miserabile si sente uomo:
fonda la fiducia nella vita, fino
a disprezzare chi ha altra vita.
I figli si gettano all'avventura
sicuri d'essere in un mondo
che di loro, del loro sesso, ha paura.
La loro pietà è nell'essere spietati,
la loro forza nella leggerezza,
la loro speranza nel non avere speranza.
Sesso, consolazionne della miseria!
Pier Paolo Pasolini
Commission for a lovely couple 💐✨ for a hot minute I considered cropping, the internet seems to really hate bodies right now (if you’ve been following the Tumblr firestorm), but that goes against many convictions I believe in (and would also cut out a lot of my signature florals!). Censoring the human body, censoring queer people, censoring art is extremely dangerous and damaging. There’s nothing shameful or scandalous about bodies, or sexuality, and it’s time to change this narrative. Let’s replace stigmas with empowerment. 👏👏👏
I’m learning my gender is not a medical experience (or experiment) — it’s a human one. I was searching for answers in medicine when what I need to thrive lives in humanity.
Gender affirming and transgender medicine grew out of the historical belief that all non-cisgender people have the desire to be or appear cisgender. We no longer live in that world, yet the medical community continues to push many of us in that direction (even if unintentionally and by default, because unique gender care protocols and interventions do not exist for non-binary and gender fluid individuals). •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Nothing is more threatening to a medical provider than a patient with a problem they cannot solve. This is why many medical providers who offer gender-affirming care take pride in presenting what they do as a solution. But for a non-binary person, there is a great deal of danger in seeing a gender provider who assumes that puberty blockers, hormones, or surgery (by themselves) alleviate the pain and struggle of being a trans or non-binary person in a world that fails to acknowledge, understand or support those experiences. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
This past year has been a tough one (hence my break from social media). I’ve always had a hard time articulating what I’m feeling while I’m feeling it. When I’m anxious and overwhelmed by the present moment, I struggle to find meaning and hope in it. I am much better at looking back and reflecting thoughtfully. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I am finally ready to openly process and share this past year’s journey as well as the exciting life events to come in 2019(👰🏻💏👶🏻🎉🌈). I hope some of you will come along for the ride.
