It’s time for the second derby of the season, this time against West Ham United at London Stadium (1:30PM). London Stadium was built to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. It’s home for West Ham United and UK Athletics. It has hosted the Rugby World Cup, The Race of Champions and the RFL Four Nations.
At football games the capacity is around 57,000 and at concerts it’s around 80,000. Fun fact about the stadium is that the cantilevered roof is the longest in the world. It’s 9,5 miles between London Stadium and Stamford Bridge.
Because there are so many London teams in the PL this season, I’ll write about the specific part of London that the arena is situated in.
London Stadium is situated in Stratford, a metropolitan district in East London. The population is around 52,000. The name Stratford is first recorded in 1067. A famous landmark is the ArcelorMittal Orbit. It’s a 114-metre-tall (374 ft) sculpture and observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s Britain’s largest piece of public art. Some footballers from Stratford are Albert Barrett and David Webb.
Anyone been to London Stadium? Score predictions? EDIT: Both teams got away with one point, 0-0.
