Sometimes we hit moments in life where it may be foggy and unclear as to what we are to do next, or what direction we are supposed to take. We feel lost, unable to see where we are going, and may feel as though we are walking in circles. God may seem like he isn’t answering, you can’t feel his presence, and yet we can be assured that as we take each step forward that there will always be solid and sure ground beneath our feet, because he would not lead us into something we could not get through. As foggy, confusing, or difficult as things may be, let us continue forward with faith, not sight which is the enemy of faith because if we can see the path and know exactly where to go in each moment then there would be no need for faith, but continue forward with the confidence that firm ground will be found with each step.

Playing Classical Music is more than playing. Playing Classical Music is feeling, learning, expressing, discovering, ... so many (ings) even fucking wanting to break everything around you.
The beauty of it is that you can reach a spiritual dimension that nothing in the world lets you.
Training for 6 months and playing for 6 minutes is my reality and I accept it and I love it. I love more the process than the reaching of the goal.
I love the everyday grinding , the frustration , the learning , every little bit.
I simply love music , I live music , I breath music. I AM MUSIC
Just letting some thoughts of gratitude out. Hope you find something you love in your life , if not it will find you.
Lets talk price. I mean can you really put a value on reaching your goals and living your best life? Well the answer is, sort of.

The lesson of being ok failing at it.

It is all about CHOICE.
Choosing what matters the most to us.
Choosing to become the person who lives those dreams.
Choosing to be best version of ourselves.

Today I want to expand further on vision.
Vision for me is what will compel you, and motivate you.
A really good vision should make you cry, if its truly something you desire and need.
Vision for me is what I feel most suited to talk about, I've spent almost a full year clarifying my vision on paper, and only recently did it finally click.
So for the most part you kind of understand and know what you desire and need, unless you're really out of touch.
In that case you need to do some reflection and meditation.
But for those of you who already have a blurry sense of what you desire, then write that shit down.
Writing is just thinking but manifested, so getting your desires, needs, and wants on paper is already a manifestation itself.
A good vision should include your passion and purpose, your self and how you want to feel or be, and other key areas of your life.
This vision isn't a "I should do this because I have to"
A vision is "I desire this so badly that I can't ignore it"
So the practical action to take is to simply write down everything you ever wanted or desired on paper, and you will start to figure out what it is you truly want.
A vision will guide you to what you want and the universe will help you out.
What is normal?
I’ve known I was different since I was a child, but I suppressed it to be “normal.” You see, being a nerd was not a cool thing when I grew up. I was called everything from geek to square before I was a teen. So, in high school I came out of my shell to be “cool.” I explored the cool side to amuse people and find friends. My intellect allowed me to see things at a higher speed...you know the quick snap back when someone hurled insults at me. Being able to see flaws in people to disarm them before they had a chance to say something to destroy me.
At some point, I realized that I had become that guy who thought he had to be “cool” at all costs. It was second nature for me to determine someone’s flaws to add to my arsenal to tear them down if they even thought about disrespecting me.
I thought this was a strength, but it’s always been a strategy to disguise my weaknesses. Strength comes from being yourself regardless of what others think. Strength is finding an unwavering confidence in yourself without building a wall to hide your insecurities. It’s takes strength to be emotional naked...no defensive armor, no linguistic weapons...just your authentic self.
This is what being “normal” really means. If you are the geek, like I was...remain the geek, it’s who you’re supposed to be. It’s your super power and it’s meant for you to change the world the only way you can. This is your normal North Star! So, Let’s Get To Work, people!! As Always, How Strong Is Your Hustle? Keep Hustlin’, people!
People in the beauty community can often be viscous. Popular YouTubers withstand so much negativity, it's sad people can be so rude. If you are experiencing people's opinions causing you pain, stop right now and realize their opinions don't define you. Just because someone says something horrible to you doesn't make it true. Yes we are human and fall short often, but their is a difference in constructive criticism and just being rude. I want to challenge you to be kind to one another and encourage a sense of a loving community not a viscious one. Beating down on other people doesn't make you better, just as rude comments don't define you. Stand up and be you, and kill people with kindness.
Hey girl! I want you to know that you are worth all the good things in life! If you want to create a successful happy life, start by nourish everyday with positive words, thoughts, attitude and actions. Your results will be a positive destiny 💫💗☁️

Here’s another #realtalk post that hits close to home. Call it confidence or self-esteem, but we either have too little or too much. It’s a catch-22. Like most things in life, there is a continuum between a meek wallflower and arrogant peacock. The wallflower appears weak while the latter is an obnoxious nuisance. So how do we find balance?
Most people I meet live in the land of insecurity and struggle with feelings of inadequacy. They feel unworthy and unequal. Meanwhile, those who exude confidence are criticized for arrogance - making it safer to live in the security of insecurity.
More often than not, confidence critics are making judgements from a place of envy and inadequacy. They struggle with insecurities and don’t want to be left in the wake of the confident achiever. These opinions don’t matter. Strive for greatness and don’t look to your left or your right. Your only competition is the person you were yesterday.
Your confidence comes from your own success. Set goals that matter, take on challenges that are difficult, and persist when the setbacks come. This is where your confidence will thrive.
Raise your hand if you are living with a massive regret in you life. 🙋🏻♀️ We all do. Sometimes we are forced to live with the consequences of a bad decision, but more often than not we imprison ourselves in a cell of our own design. It’s impossible to move forward when you’ve shackled your wrists in the past. Mistakes are part of our growth and can be the fuel that propels us to achieve. As Maya Angelou said, “When you know better, you do better.” Acknowledge your mistakes, pause, but don’t get comfortable in that space of regret. Take your lesson and get moving. Onward and upward. #newyearnewyou#personaldevelopment#motivation#regret#mastery#personalmastery#selfactualization#goals#realtalkwithdrtess

Change is hard. It is uncomfortable. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Complacency seems to be the status quo, but keep your momentum with your change intentions this year by putting one foot in front of the other. Here are some tips for embracing change in your life:
1. Take small action steps.
Change doesn’t happen overnight. Identify one small thing that you can do at a time, do it, then find another. Work backward and break your goal into small action steps until you can get to the very first one in the path. This is usually something that you can control or do yourself. Once you accomplish that milestone, then you can tackle another.
2. Check your ego.
More often than not, the biggest roadblock to change is you. When you weigh the pros and cons of change, the cons usually have to do with your own sacrifice and ego. If the downside of change is concern about failure or criticism, get over it. Put one foot in front of the other and move! You are not a tree.
3. Fail correctly.
Most of us were never taught to fail as if it weren’t an option. So when it happens, we are unprepared to face it. We need to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Anything worth doing will have a risk of failure, ask any entrepreneur. In business, the correct way to fail means doing it quickly, inexpensively and never the same way twice. You don’t want to have too much money or time hinging on any one outcome. If you do, then failure is bad, taking time and money away from other opportunities. When (not if) you fail, learn and grow. Get up and try again. Make adjustments informed by your failure. This is how success is built. One step at a time. Just keep moving forward!
Personal development is an often used but ambiguous term. Simply stated, is a journey towards becoming the best version of yourself. Rather than waiting for good things to happen, you are becoming proactive to make positive changes in your own life.
The first, and probably most important, step in your personal development is developing your SELF AWARENESS. Start by identify what your core values are. Make a list of 10 values that are important to the you, then pick 3-5 that stand out amongst that list. For example, my personal values are:
Once you have identified your values, think about how your behavior and decisions reflect your values. Are your values evident in the life you are leading? If not, which area do you need to devote more of your energy to to be in alignment with your values?

HAVE YOU SET YOUR GOALS FOR 2019?
Great! So you decided to exercise more, practice mindfulness, take more time for self care, guard your personal time, and work on your personal growth! Now what?
According to U.S. News and World Report, 80% of Resolutions fail by February. If the gym seems annoyingly crowded right now, just give it 3 weeks and you will have your choice of barbells. 😜 It’s been said if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So how can you ensure your goals will defy these stats?
1. Set a clear goal and imagine what it will look like when that goal has been achieved. How will life be different for you? Visualize yourself in that place of achievement.
2. What obstacles are in your path? What steps will you take to overcome them? No matter how prepared and capable you are, obstacles are to be expected in any growth path. Don’t be surprised when you encounter them. Recognizing what you may encounter as you strive for your goals can help you prepare and tackle the hurdles when they arise.
3. Find your accountability buddy. Goals require change, change requires new habits, new habits require altering patterns, and altering patterns requires hard work, dedication, perseverance, and support. Out of all of those, support may be the most important. Find you people and articulate your goals out loud. Ask for their help in staying on track.
4. How will you celebrate your successes? Through self-compassion and forgiveness, you are able to encourage and motivate yourself, even in the times in which you may experience a setback. Celebrate the seemingly small steps that get you towards your goal to appreciate the hard work, perseverance, and sacrifices you invested to achieve your goal.
GO GET ‘EM, TIGER! 🐯 👊

MINDFULNESS. 🧘♀️ Those who know me (even a little) know that I am probably the least new-age, touchy-feely, meditating yogi on the earth. I totally respect yoga, but that ain’t me. Just hearing the word “mindfulness” makes me want to give a HARD eye roll. 🙄 If you’re like me, read on.
Our life can quickly pass us by when we’re not focused on what matters. We all share bad habits of focusing too often on the negative and overlooking the positive. Mindfulness is a state of active focus and gratitude for the present. It can also be a healthy way to identify and manage hidden emotions that may be causing problems in our personal and professional relationships. In other words, mindfulness means living in the moment.
Mindfulness has many positive benefits, including lowering stress, improving overall health, and fighting depression and anxiety. Sound good? Of course it does...but if we’re supposed to sit around meditating throughout the day — ain’t nobody got time for that!
Instead of meditating in silence, I challenge each of you to start by NOT picking up your phones before you get out of bed tomorrow morning. WHAT IF you got up and practiced MINDFULNESS in your morning routine using the SAME amount of minutes you usually waste scrolling through your newsfeed like a zombie? 🧟♂️ Do you think your day would be different? I know its a lot to ask (for me too!) but will you give it a try?! [If you’re reading this in the morning - it’s not too late! Start right now!] Be present and aware during your morning routine. Enjoy the taste of your coffee, look your spouse in the eye, and greet your children with a smile. Be present in your morning routine and focus your attention on exactly what is happening now. When your brain wanders, refocus and start again.
Research shows that the way you start your morning sets the tone for your entire day! Be mindful, grateful, and intentional with your time and start TODAY! 🙇♀️ #growthmindset#mindfulness#motivation#goals#personaldevelopment#realtalkwithdrtess

✨SET YOUR INTENTION FOR 2019. ✨
Intentions are the fuel to manifesting your goals and visions for yourself in the new year. Without an intention there is no map, and you're just driving down a road with no destination in mind. You can't set an intention that you don't believe or commit to.
Here are a few examples of intentions to consider this year:
* I intend to choose happiness every day. * I intend to respond first, and then react.
* I intend to lead by example in all relationships. * I intend to stop taking things personally.
* I intend to forgive others, and myself.
* I intend to love others unconditionally.
* I intend to guard my time and say “no” to commitments that do not bring me joy.
If you have another intention in mind that isn't listed above, go for it! Just remember to keep these three important points in mind as you set your intention:
1. Keep it positive.
Your chosen intention should always be positive, uplifting, and always in the present tense. You want to refrain from using any negative words.
2. Make sure it can evolve.
Our minds are very clever... when something new comes along, the mind is intrigued. But as time passes, the mind gets bored! If you stick with the same intention week after week, your mind will stop responding to it. The best way to resolve this is to make sure your intention or goal can easily be adjusted.
3. Aim for the short term.
You can still think of the big picture — just divide your long-term intention into few shorter ones instead. After successfully manifesting your short-term intentions, you will ultimately reach the actual goal that you had been nurturing in the first place.
I’d love to hear what goals you are setting for the year! Get an accountability buddy and and share your goals for the new year! 🌈☀️2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ #personaldevelopment#motivation#intention#goals#goaldigger#manifest#realtalkwithdrtess

Growth is painful.
Change is painful.
But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don't belong.
You have to develop your own unique method of getting unstuck. If you truly want to be great you have to find your rhythm, you have to find your pattern of how you do it.
Look within, you already have all your answers.
What is “stuck”, really?
It means you’re "leveling up".
It means you’re ready for the next chapter in one or more areas of your life.
It means you are growing.
It’s a beautiful thing to be stuck!
It means you’re evolving & changing.
That you’ve opened your mind up to different ways of thinking & viewing life.
It doesn’t mean we have to frown upon our ‘old selves’ with disdain, with a sense superiority, with an attitude of pity and/or “I’m better now”.
It means we can love that chapter of our lives that got us here, that was necessary to mold us until we were ready for this new beginning.
When we can move "towards" something rather than away from another.
When we can accept and love where
we’ve been and use where we are as a vehicle to move us forward rather than believing we must resent our past in order to truly embrace our future, that PROVES we’ve grown.
How do we get "UNSTUCK"?
When we ask ourselves: “What patterns of behavior (and/or thinking) are no longer serving me?”
THAT is when we get unstuck.
And getting ‘unstuck’ can take different amounts of time and may require different levels of support for each individual. There is no need to feel bad for how long you’ve felt "stuck", we are all on different journeys, with different resources, etc.
It's NOT a race, and where we are and where we’ve been and where we’re going are not meant to be compared against one another… they’re different chapters of life, none inherently better than the other, and all needed. "BE COMMITTED TO YOUR DECISION....
BUT REMAIN FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR APPROACH." #transformation#change#growth#vision#focus#purpose#getoutofyourownway#goals#positivity#success#purpose#believeinyourself#motivation#inspiration#positivethinking#wordstoliveby#quoteoftheday

This language of hearts “on fire” isn’t just Christianese. It’s biblical. Luke 24 recounts one of the most beautiful moments in Jesus’s ministry — the road to Emmaus, where two despondent disciples are transformed by an encounter with Jesus.
The scene opens with these two men on the road shortly after the crucifixion, lamenting the death of Jesus and their loss of hope. Jesus appears and walks alongside them, but they don’t recognize him. Then Jesus begins a kind of Bible study, right there on the road: “Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27). Jesus was teaching them how to read and interpret the Bible. And his main point? “It’s all about me.”
Later on, when Jesus was gone, the two disciples talk about what they learned and how it affected them. “They said to each other, ‘Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?’” (Luke 24:32). What set their hearts ablaze — in the language of Augustine, what captivated their affections — was an interpretation of Scripture that put Jesus and his finished work front and center.
Awesome words from @desiringgod for us today.
