They told him the world was all black, white, and sometimes, in special situations, shades of grey. He though, saw so much more. He saw the dark reds, the bright yellows, and calming greens. Despite this, he chose to see the world in the fascinating hues of sparkling purples. The softest lavenders caressing the cheeks of innocent children. The magenta waves flowing around people hopelessly in love, and glowing amethysts of gleeful giggles.
The boy never doubted that the world could be ghastly and life, at times, seemed impossible. But he would never allow himself to be stopped by the gloom and doom. Instead he focused on the good, the bright, the joyous.
Despair can blind us, choking us in its deadly fog, causing us to believe its lies that we are not enough. But we must be like the boy, seeing past the fog, using any light we can grasp to break through the lies and see the truth. See that the world can be beautiful, and so are we.
