One of my goals for 2019 is to be an excellent public speaker. Today I talked about my failed beauty competition from 8 years ago and I won the best impromptu speech. Something good can come from something bad, our experiences shape who we are, especially failures. #toastmasters#goals#publicspeaking
What do you know for sure?
This I know for sure. (Thank you @oprah)
When women are given an opportunity to be seen and heard, the world shifts.
Those who cannot speak for themselves need us to use our voices on their behalf.
When we make unapologetic moves that are heart centred, we are divinely supported.
We need to use every opportunity to become the loudest voices speaking on our behalf.
Every single one of our stories matter.
Add your “for sures” below 🙌 and let’s commit to going that much further in them in 2019!
By combining all his research and ideas on what makes an effective presentation, Eric Fitzpatrick has compiled the 'Presentation Scorecard', which itemises all the things that a speaker needs to consider when making a presentation. He outlines all the traps and pitfalls of making a presentation and how to avoid them, and details the tricks and techniques that will attract your audience's attention and convince them of your message. Whether you're giving a speech at your best friend's wedding, preparing for an interview for your dream job, or just want to gain some insight into communication in general, this book is a fantastic resource to have on hand! #bookstagram#books#interview#publicspeaking#communication

The word feminist today might be too mainstream but only because it has lost its true meaning.
I remember when I started blogging , I had to face a lot of criticism since I truly din't have any content to blog about. The same people who appreciate me today would mock me on it. I was told not to be too expressive on social media. Why ? " Because a female "

I feel proud and happy about Elvin and Radjab, two specialists at @kapital_bank who took the second place in internal product presentation competition of the bank.
Basically they pitched their idea and concept about SahibCARD (Special Card for business people) and were officially nominated for place number 2.
We spent 4 hours together to master their speech. Plus we worked on the slide deck and design of delivery.
Now it is time to enjoy the results.
I love such moments because proactive people deserve what they earn and win.
I love the sessions where clients become sharp with their intentions and confident in their preparation level.
It's assessment centre season and if you've got one (or a few) coming up make sure you check out this video on my @youtube channel. It'll tell you exactly how to stand out on the day of the assessment centre and ensure you convert it into an offer! If you haven't already, be sure to hit the link in my bio to see the FULL video.
More Tribute Speeches in #publicspeaking class today! Kian gave a funny and genuine speech about his friend, Dylan.

If I’m being honest I’m still digesting the epic highs and lows of 2018. It was a year of lessons that have hurried, in the most wonderful and challenging of ways, into this new year with me.
One of the things I learned about myself is that I enjoy speaking to groups and sharing stories about life and all the things I’ve been through and survived.
5 years ago I never would have agreed to spake in public. Last year it took a lot of courage and trust to say yes to @thedeepmagazine’s quarterly live storytelling event. And yet, because it scared me, I said yes. And though it was terrifying and uncomfortable it was amazing and I got through it and discovered I was good at something I never would have considered before because I’d always told myself the story it wasn’t something I would or could do.
That’s the thing about stories. They aren’t always true. And even the ones that are true in a moment of coming to life don’t necessarily stay that way.
I’ve decided to do more of this. More standing up. More speaking and sharing and using my voice. More stepping into discomfort. More trusting myself.
Stay tuned IG for more of me sharing on live stories. And stay tuned #halifax as I’m going to do everything I can to get out there even more than I already am and speak! #writersofinstagram#writerslife#speak#share#standup#trustyourvoice#publicspeaking#halifaxns#novascotia#halifaxnoise#riohfx 📸 @thequiltingyogi 😘❤️
I want to matter! I want to make a difference! I want to positively impact others' lives every day! I want to be a respected husband, father, and friend! I want to know that I am valued and significant! I want life to be abundant, joyful, and meaningful! I want the freedom and the ability to make decisions that make a difference in my family's lives as well as in other lives!⠀
Although I desire all of these things, I struggle every day with feeling like I matter to no one, that I'm not making a difference at all. I feel like a failing husband, father, and friend more often than not. I often do not feel valued or significant. Sometimes, it feels like I'm just going through the motions in life and there really isn't much meaning at all. Although I have freedom, I abuse it by choosing to do nothing when I could do a lot more something. As a result, I always feel like something is off and not quite right. My insecurities challenge me EVERY day! ⠀
I have found that the only way to combat this in my life is to seek Jesus Christ in all things, to constantly surround myself with people that remind me of the truth about who I really am, and to do things every day that challenge me spiritually, mentally, and physically. If I choose not to do any of these things, I feel it throughout every area of my life. However, if I do choose to walk with God, love people, and do what I know is right, I experience a life of PURPOSE!⠀
Have you ever felt this way? What's your struggle? How have you overcome?⠀ ⠀

Being able to speak in front of people has always been something I have struggled with in the past. I wasn’t sure what it was, but there was something that just terrified me.
Looking back now, I can’t believe I was, as today I get the most incredible buzz from it. I always used to hear that “everything you ever wanted is on the other side of FEAR”. I never really knew what it meant until I pushed myself last year to start spreading my message. Last week I completed a 5 day course on speaking and now I realise that I have found a true passion.
Here’s some tips for any of you that may be struggling with the confidence to spread your message:
1. Know the structure of your talk not the script - people relate to people, and if you are just speaking from a script it can be really difficult to get the emotion across. If you just follow a structure, then you can easily flow through a talk with confidence.
2. Believe in yourself - this is always a difficult one, and is easier said than done. But actually, each and everyone of us is incredible! We all have our own separate message to tell the world, don’t be afraid... anyone can do it, it’s just having that self believe and sometimes that forced accountability to make you do it!
3. Be yourself! - It can be so easy sometimes to try and mimic other people when speaking in front of people. You see the big speakers out there, full of energy, doing their thing and you just assume that their way is the only way. That couldn’t be any further from the truth, everyone is unique, and when you are trying to relate with each and every person in the room, being yourself is only authentic way of connecting. Be your own person, and don’t give a shit about what people think of you.
Public speaking has given me so much confidence, and last week was just the beginning. If you are interested... I am speaking at a number of events this year, sharing my story, and how property changed my life. My first event is in April, so if you are free pop down to the Hilton hotel for the Progressive Property Network event. Maybe, I’ll see some of you there! ✌️

Today was awesome, what a view out the window too 🙌
I never used to be comfortable speaking in front of large crowds, and by crowds I mean more than 1 person 🤣
In football I wasn’t a leader, I just led by my performances. I tried desperately to have a voice but it just wasn’t me. I’m not the type of person to pick up a room if it’s flat, I’ll happily stay quiet in the corner
Public speaking then doesn’t come naturally, I’m an introvert at heart and I’ll stay that way, but I realise in order to grow you have to push boundaries
I remember when I was younger and plucked up the courage to stand up to bullies, took me a long time; and I finally done it
Every time I speak, or step out my comfort zone I feel like I’m fighting that younger self, the one that wants to stay quiet
But we are what we repeatedly do, and in order to feel fulfilled and progressing in life, I have to squash that little voice holding me back
Public speaking isn’t the end goal, but it’s a stepping stone towards the bigger picture I have planned. That’s why it’s a must
Hey, it may not be public speaking for you, it could be stepping in to the gym, or choosing an alternative to MacDonalds on a Thursday lunchtime
Listen to your voice, be aware of the actions you’re taking and be honest with yourself
Are they pushing you towards your future self? Or pulling you away?
I won. Not because I earned a ribbon at my first Toast Masters class, but because I took the terrifying risk of presenting to an audience of strangers. Yes, I was nervous (and almost buckled at the knees/passed out), BUT I grew a tremendous amount during that 5 minute moment. Going into the class last night I wasn’t sure if I would be back, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to be vulnerable enough to get up on stage and speak publicly. By making the conscious choice to break the ice and put myself out there, I allowed myself to grow...and it just so happened that they liked what I said enough to vote for me 😆. I can’t help but think, what if I hadn’t volunteered to go on stage for the table topic speech and, what if I hadn’t attended the class at all?! I’m so glad I did 🙃. What risks are YOU taking to grow yourself? #findthecourage#toastmasters#publicspeaking#iwon#learntogrow#letsclimb#willfulwellbeing
This barber shop gives $3 to kids who read out loud while getting a cut. They do this to help build their confidence and ability to speak in public (which 75% of adults are afraid to do). Way to go, @citycutsbarbershop
