Bullet proof cooler idea created after the Las Vegas Shooting last year. The idea has still been on my mind over a year later, so tidied up the sketch to post. I've been calling it The Protector.
After the Las Vegas shooting happened, 58 people died and 487 were wounded. These people had no way to protect themselves. As a product designer I asked myself what I could do to help the innocent in the terrible case of mass violence and this conceptual idea was born.
Thinking it would ideally be roto molded polypropylene with some sort of foam kevlar (without having access to military or a tech company's R&D I believe this still needs to be developed). May also be able to use a foam composite metal if altered for production-as the molten metal would melt the plastic shell (check out N.C. University's CMF, its awesome). If you are a product developer or creative solutions type person, what can you do to help the innocent in situations like these? My intention is to put this idea out there so it may inspire others how they can contribute or develop with their current resources.

“To create a better everyday life for the many people”
That is our vision.
To be able to do so, one part is to frequently do what we call homevisits. This is a favourite part of my job. To visit peoples home around the world to get a better understanding for what are their needs. We get an opportunity to ask questions and they can give us ideas of how we can improve our product range. We have a lot in common around the world, but there are also differences. It is truly a fun challenge to develop products for all our great customers around the world. This is from a trip to Berlin, when we had the pleasure to visit Ayumi. She is a personal chef, originally from Japan. Ayumi managed to create the ideal balance between a busy Berlin lifestyle combined with Japanese values and traditions, both in her everyday life and food approach. She lives in an apartment in Berlin, with a small kitchen where everything happens:) when we came knocking on her door she where preparing a take out lunch for us. I think it is really cool to see how she extended her workspace to her kitchen table. This give me/us ideas how we can develop furniture that can have a multipurpose. To serve as a dinnertable, and in the same time serve as workspace when needed. One product i wish i would have had in my bag to give her as a present, would be the GRUNDVATTNET sink accessories. It is a clever way to organise and extend the sink area. Thank you so much Ayumi for having us as your guests💕
Thank you also to our photograher for documenting our trip, and 1kg for hosting us. @shlager@1kgberlin#kitchen#kitcheninterior#kitchenideas#kitchenstyle#kitchendesign#kitcheninspo#kitchens#kitchendecor#kitchenideas#kitcheninspiration#interior#interiordesign#interiorismo#interiors#interior_design#interiores#interiorstyling#interiorinspiration#interiordecor#interiordesigns#interiordetails#ikea#ikeakitchen#design#productdevelopment#homevisits#productdevelopers
