When you have a dream, don’t let it go, no matter what obstacles APPEAR against you. I still had to play by their rules but launched Tea Talk 5/7/18 in a maximum security prison (as an inmate) so I know .. ⠀
now that I’m home sky is the limit‼️ Don’t let anyone tell you no .. shout out to my bunkie (who’s still inside) for always encouraging me even on the lowest of days. ⠀
My whole mission is to serve, serve my sisters, serve my community, build better families. #MotivationMonday#EntrepreMommy
There are more African American men in prison and jail, or on probation and parole, than were slaves before the start of the Civil War. African Americans make up 13.6 percent of the U.S. population according to census data, but black men reportedly make up 40.2 percent of all prison inmates. #PrisonReform#Freedom
The US prison population has more than quadrupled since the 1980s. In 2017, @FITEfilm explores what this means for our communities. 🎥
According to Sentencing Project, “The number of people serving life sentences continues to grow even while serious, violent crime has been declining for the past 20 years and little public safety benefit has been demonstrated to correlate with increasingly lengthy sentences.”

#IamINC#joinnia#massincarceration#prisonreform#justicereformnow#Repost@fitefilm ・・・ The reduction of employment for individuals who spent a time in person has an impact in the U.S. economy. Follow @FITEfilm to learn more...
According to a 2010 study by the Center for Economic and Policy Research, a prison record or a felony conviction significantly lowers the prospects in the labor market for ex-offenders. In short, the research established that a time in prison makes a person less employable. The low employment levels can cost the U.S. economy between $57 billion and $65 billion in lost economic activity. The high cost of lost output in our economy suggests that there are benefits in taking actions in reducing the barriers of employment for ex-offenders.
Firearms are the second leading cause of death for American children and teens. EVERYDAY 96 Americans are killed with guns and hundreds more are shot and injured. (According to @everytown )

76% of released inmates will return to prison within 5 years of release (Source: Marian Hatcher, Vox). Due to the lack of resources for ex-cons, it leaves them with no choice but to go back to their old ways as it’s the only thing they know. Until we provide more resources for ex-cons and erase the stigma, this problem WILL continue and the number WILL increase. #PRISONREFORM#CALLTOACTION

CARESCall Call: (515) 604-9384
Code: 313882 #
Dear Friends and Families:
Please join our next CARESCall on Tuesday, December 18th, at 8pm, as we welcome Mike Nelson, a co-founder of San Quentin's effective and dynamic lifer group, "Kid C.A.T" and now a wellness educator at the Ahimsa Collective. Mr. Nelson will discuss the transformative work being done with prisoners, their families, and others on the outside to heal trauma and create real accountability. This call will introduce resources to help all of us and our loved ones in prison to continue on the path of healing.

HELL IS A VERY SMALL PLACE -On any given day in America, over 80,000 people are held in solitary confinement—held in utter isolation for 23 or 24 hours a day, #solitaryconfinement is #HELL Educate yourself “They can take everything you own – your property, your best years, all your joys, all your good works, everything down to your last shirt-but you’ll always have your dreams, so you can reinvent your stolen world.”
The problem of rising temperatures inside prisons and jails, especially during summer months, has been shown to cause suffering, both physically and psychologically. Climate change effects everyone, but without uplifting the voices and experiences of incarcerated people, they're not being heard, and until then, the problem won't go away. Sherrard Williams is just one person experiencing climate change on the inside. He's been incarcerated since he was 15, and despite working on himself (getting his high school degree, being the chapel mentor, etc.) he continues to suffer through these inhumane conditions. Last year, he spent Hurricane Harvey in a cell where the electricity and plumbing failed. Read his letter (above) to learn more about his experience. #fromchainstochange#endmassincarceration#stopprisonabuse#prisonreform#cjreform

Nearly eight months after being released from prison, @meekmill is continuing his fight for prison reform with an op-ed in the New York Times where he wrote about his punishment not fitting his crime and why he wants politicians to tackle prison reform immediately ✊🏾 #MeekMill#PrisonReform#NYTimes#OpEd#DreamsandNightmares
Pres. Trump announces his support for prison and sentencing reform legislation championed by Jared Kushner, saying it will "make our communities safer and give former inmates a second chance at life after they have served their time." #prisonreform#donaldtrump#jaredkushner#politics
The FIRST STEP Act will increase public safety, strengthen families, and give incarcerated people a chance to flourish after they’ve paid their debt to society. It is time to end the revolving-door our federal prisons have become and put those who are willing to work for a second chance back on the path toward reaching their full potential.

This!? This is terrorism. & This is happening in real time.
Over one million Uyghur Muslims have been detained in concentration camps across #EastTurkestan where they are forced to denounce #Islam and pledge allegiance to the Chinese communist party.
#MeekMill speaks on #CNN about his alleged charges!! Don’t get too caught up on the messenger that you ignore the message! Do YOU think he could have pointed a firearm at multiple officers with no retaliation?? & Keep in mind it was Meek with the dusty braids at that time !! #ConsciousKingdom#prisonReform#criminaljusticereform
