Sometimes I shed a tear looking at my fried eggs, man. Breakfast today - Purple potato hash with heirloom tomato, and kale thrown into the mix. Over easy eggs with a @traderjoes sriracha, @traderjoes everything seasoning, red pepper flakes, and parsley!
After a day of holiday test baking, tree decorating, and final gift shopping, unwinding with @foursigmatic’s Hack Stress Adaptogen Coffee and watching Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas (my fav holiday movie, don’t judge me) is needed. This #smarteatssunday is still focused on adaptogens, but just not of the mushroom varietal. The ultimate shroom company has created a coffee mix that while gives you little kick of caffeine, relaxes the internal system. This Hack Stress blend includes Tulsi/Holy Basil and Astragalus. Holy Basil is a commonly used herb in India that it’s claim to fame is cortisol management. Chronic production of cortisol from external stressors leads to fatigued adrenals, lowered immunity, and increased physical exhaustion. Tulsi helps all of this by detoxing the body and protecting the liver/kidneys- which are the body’s main site for filtering. Astragalus is mostly known for it’s white blood cell boosting abilities that can improve immunity (possibly due to all that stress). So when @descendantofnarcissus comes over for dinner I feed him sea scallops, baby back ribs, a fancy salad...When I'm at his house he gives me a can of sardines, a questionable avocado, and the six olives that were stuck to the bottom of the jar!
I'm just kidding, had some bomb keto chicken noodle soup made with this spaghetti noodles called Zero Pasta that has 1g net carbs per package! #zeropasta Then we got creative and threw together a pretty awesome keto lunch. An avacado that needed to go, a can of Wild Planet Sardines #wildplanet topped with #primalkitchen spicy mayo, the last olives in the jar, some King's spicy kimchi #kimchi, and of course feta! Easy game!
On the other hand Papou Kosta was a much better host than Vasily. Papou K out did himself tonight with a keto stuffed pansetta (Greek for pork belly)! #pansetta Traditionally it would be stuffed with bread or some other carb, but he knew his spoiled keto kids would lose their keto mind's, so he stuffed that pig belly with chicken liver, mushrooms, cranberries, and onions. #damndelicious We salute you Papou K! Also had an amazing cabbage salad, roasted broccoli and shrooms, and a tiny bit of babaganoush! People are always shocked Matt and I have been together so many years. I wish there was some magical secret I could share, but the truth is, from a young age, we saw life as beautiful and messy all at once. And we understood that our real, raw love made us unbreakable.
Cracked, sure. Breakable, never.
We get lost. We forget to really see one another. We pass the days without presence. Having 3 kids and work is chaotic AF. But it’s okay because we fight our way back. And that’s the kind of love I want forever. It’s the kind of love I wish for everyone.
Now, go connect with your person. See them, love them, say the things and hear the things, hold one another, get naked and keep going. Keep choosing love. 💖

Paleo sugar free breakfast! •dates
I’m really trying to avoid ~cane sugar~ as I can see a clear correlation of sugar and breakouts on my skin. One of the big things I’ve noticed is that in a lot of granola there is ALWAYS cane sugar. I’ve taken to making my own granola by toasting oats and nuts and adding dried fruit to avoid the added sugar we get at groceries. What is your go to breakfast? I need some ideas!

Food needs no label 🚫 - Keto 🥓☕️🧀 vs Food 🍳🥑🌱 (may be classified as Keto too) Keto lifestyle can certainly work for some, however, like any diet should not be a cult or dictatorship.
The Keto diet has risen to fame with some valid merits however there are some common flaws & misconceptions. Thanks to my good friend @livevitae for highlighting these diet issues. In a Keto diet certain meals which are more fat focussed at specific times and based around activity & energy demands such as stress or digestion.
✅What you'll notice here its all about the details. They are both keto. However, the right side is far superior in nutrients + less inflammatory + more fibre + satisfying and mouthwatering✅
❌🙅🏻♀️Living off processed animal meat + poor fat profile & coffee (also an anti-nutrient) with a stick of butter & coconut oil is a waste of calories in my opinion. However, I do my own version of a bulletproof coffee which is by no way a 500 calorie drink. I consume it away from food and contains a tsp of MCT oil & some medicinal mushrooms usually before I train and certainly, I do not think it's a magically or fat loss aid 🤣
There are some great people out there who are educated and understand the value of a ketogenic approach, yet do not make it diet or cult as such. They just incorporate some aspects of keto in their lifestyle and still reap the rewards🥑❤️

Pretty much my reaction every time I check my sugar 🙏
Poke party yesterday with @glutenfree.followme at @mainlandpokeshop 💕 I always have so much fun with this girl (and she always takes me to the best eateries - check her website for healthy restaurants in every city!). I’m so happy I moved to San Diego, but friends like Jackie are why LA will always feel like home. The last few days have been packed, but I’m so grateful I got to spend time with so many of my favorite humans, especially at this time of year! .
Something we talked about yesterday on our walk to lunch was how so many people don’t walk places anymore (unless you’re in New York, Chicago, etc). They’ll drive 5 minutes rather than walk for 25 or 30. Often this isn’t even a conscious decision - it’s just routine to drive everywhere. HUMANS WERE DESIGNED TO WALK. One of the best changes I ever made in my life was trying to WALK EVERYWHERE I CAN. Obviously you can’t walk everywhere, but if you CAN walk somewhere, make it happen. Not only is it better for the environment and traffic (ugh), but walking will improve your mood, regulate cortisol levels, support lymphatic drainage, help ya get in some extra vitamin D, and improve your blood sugar response to any food you’ve eaten recently. Get in that movement! Have you noticed that people have gotten out of the habit of walking? How do you get in some more movement throughout the day?
