A view that I will always remember. Sitting here with little man waiting for them to take grandpa off the ventilator and he asked me, “is papa going to die?” And we had the hardest but most beautiful conversation about love and angels and heaven while looking out this window. It was a special but such a hard day. 01.09.18 ♥️

📐I was measuring some of my resin disks last night, when my 5 AND 2 year old starting begging me to help "count the biggness"🤗. I wanted them to help me, but it was tough for them to find the exact lengths of the disks.
👉 Then I remembered the 27264 @ikeausa measuring tapes 📏 we have lying around the house and thought they would be the perfect "bendy-ness" for the kids to use😃. 👉I laminated them and hot glued the 2 ends of some yarn with a bead strung on it, to the ruler. 👉The girls used the bead to mark end point of the resin disks and then were able to tell me the number it landed on 😱🙌! Theeeen they went around the house telling me how big EVERYTHING else was 😂😪.

Scrolling through pictures today and found some of my very first attempts of putting Mykah’s hair in a protective style so I thought I would show a little growth timeline!
Not just growth for M (but I mean.. 😭) but for me as her white mama too.
I’m so thankful for all of the Women of Color (especially my sweet mama-in-love❤️) who have spent countless time and energy educating white adoptive parents and parents of biracial kids on how to care for their kiddos hair.
It’s so important.
Not just for hair health but for her identity as a person of color.

Tune in to our story to see our preschoolers on their field trip to the @knausberryfarm ! 🍓
Its one of those days, i tell myself we all have them, I'm trying to cook tea and my preschool age child needs me, You know where they just repeat your name over and over again and cry at you, She has now just brought me a pink sling to go on mummys back (her words)
The carrier she has brought me is a standard baby sized carrier by Neko, Its not knee to knee but it's still comfortable and she is now happy and kissing my back.
Sling to the rescue and it was her choice.
If you would like to learn to back carry i do private 121s and workshops, Just drop me a message.

SAVE THE DATE! This FRIDAY we will be having our OPEN HOUSE from 2-4PM and everyone is invited! Come check out our school and interact with our teachers to learn more about our progressive and innovative approach to learning! See you then!
Our NEW Solar System Study Pack is now available as part of our Teacher’s Lounge Subscription + in the shop for $14.29 and this moon study is being offered as a FREEBIE!! 🌍 🚀 💫
It was all created with the idea of introducing the moon, sun, and planets in our solar system through mini lessons that enhance STEM and phonic skills.
Here we have our moon study paired with some incredible moon sand + some additional related resources such as moon phase peg dolls + play dough mats!
We hope you enjoy this new addition and invite you to create some moon sand to go along with this study!
Ingredients: 8 cups of all purpose flour + 1 cup of baby oil.
Combine the ingredients until you end up with a wet like sand. It should stick together and feel similar to sand when building a sand castle except it’ll be less grainy.
That’s it! Enjoy creating moon craters, mountains, and more! 🌙 📷: @_hickoryandash

Salt tray writing
PreK loves salt trays. We use this mini tray to practice individual letters. •
To make colored salt we simply place the salt in a bag and add gel food coloring. Mix it all up and lay flat on some foil or parchment paper to dry.
Katy @prekwolfpack recently showed a fun way to color salt using chalk. Go check out her page! To say Katy is amazing is an understatement 💕
INDEPENDENT PLAY I LOVE activities that are easy for Ben to set up on his own. While we were doing school, Ben pulled this off his shelf, set it up and starting working. This was a Christmas gift from grandma from @learningresources
A cute fishbowl contains three happy residents for puzzle play. This extra-thick three-piece wooden puzzle includes a fish, a turtle and a crab, each with jumbo wooden knobs for easy grasping. Full-color, matching pictures appear underneath each piece. A great activity to encourage hand-eye coordination and visual perception skills

The wheels on the bus go ’round and ‘roun… and kids will play with this puzzle over and over! Lift the six pieces of the school bus to reveal different pictures underneath that show what’s happening, and to hear the different verses of the classic children’s song. Sing along as the wipers go, “swish, swish, swish,” the horn goes, “beep, beep, beep,” and more! The lyrics are on the back of the sturdy wooden resting board to help kids learn the words. Shaped wooden pieces with durable plastic pegs are easy for small hands to grasp, making this a perfect preschool puzzle (ages 2+)
For the past week and a half we focused on the colour blue. I forgot how easy yet hard it is at this age. Easy because they learn so fast but hard because let’s be real, after 5 minutes they are onto something else. But, that’s okay. I extended the learning to where he is. In my stories from the other day Greyson walked off saying done and went to his car. I went and played over there with him pointing to things that are blue and saying “what colour is this” and he would say blue. Things we did: •I put blue toys around for hide and seek( he saw me doing it) and told him to go find the blue toys. •everywhere we went I pointed to blue things and asked what colour, which he always replied blue. •I would give him something multicoloured and ask for him to show me blue (95% of the time he got it right.) •I pushed colouring with markers because opening and closing the lids helps with his fine motor skills. Of course he made a mess but that’s why it’s washable! •
This guy is almost 5 and he's way too cool for me! We think he might grow up to be an engineer because of his love for learning how things work! One thing is for sure though, he's going to be a lady's man! He has the bluest eyes and is so compassionate!
If I'm going to be really honest though, I'm a bit sad. Since he's our middle child, we didn't get to enjoy as much of him being a baby or toddler. I don't remember much of his earlier years. Instead we were taking his older brother to preschool while he had a little baby brother. At one point we had a 3 year old, 1 year old, and a newborn. Let me tell you, I was just trying to survive.
Now that my good friend is going through this stage, I tell her what she needs to hear. No one told me how difficult it would be. Sleep deprivation was literally the worst. I was raising 3 small kiddos while my husband was working mids and getting on average 4-5 hours of sleep (with almost no help). It made me feel crazy! So I remind her to take breaks, even if she feels lazy. I remind her to sleep in if possible and to not feel bad. And I remind her that although it doesn't feel like it now, this is literally a stage of your life. And that I already miss my kids being babies. So, do what you need to do and enjoy it all!! #mom#momlife#boymom#boymom#preschooler#preschooler#preschool#toocoolforschool#toocool#spiderman#style#hedressedhimself#missmybabies

I feel like Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that people either love or they hate. I've always enjoyed love day, and when I became a mama it morphed into a whole new thing for me. We usually gift the girls something small, and my hubby gets all three of us flowers 🥰

One of the reasons I love Instagram is that it gives me inspiration for educational and fun activities for my children. I recently took @kristinatoddlerapproved ‘s incredible idea for a snowman name hunt and modified it for my own kids.
I simply cut out a few snowmen with upper-case letters written on them and hid them around our family room. When my kids returned from school, it was their job to find the snowmen and match them to the paper with the lower-case letters to reveal a secret message.
To avoid my older child finding all of the snowmen more quickly than his little sister, I assigned them each a color. The colored snowmen and their designated letters made a pattern on the final paper, so that my children could figure out what colors were missing and then work as a team to find the last few snowmen.
It was a huge success and they loved figuring out the message that read, “Do you want to bake cookies?” It was a great way to spend the afternoon!
If you are looking for inspiration, a few of my favorite accounts to follow for activities are @dayswithgrey, @kristinatoddlerapproved, and @busytoddler .
