Nope! They are not frisbees!!! Made these discs for firing my hanging pots. I fire my hanging pots on their rims /lip....This is the part of the piece that isn’t glazed. Since this clay has such a high shrinkage, (think I might have mentioned that at least once) when fired directly on the kiln shelf it can cause warping (a tiny part of the rim stick to the shelf when it is shrinking) or a nibble is taken out of the lip if it sticks to the shelf.
If I place them on a disc made from the same clay, I have better luck. Ordered some alumina hydrate to sprinkle on the shelf to see if this will also stop the problems...and save wasting my time and clay using discs.
Busy in the studio working on orders which are not for Christmas...obviously! Getting an early start! ⏰
This is going to be a medium/large (in my world!) hanging pot with clear (showing the white clay) and sunshine yellow glazing.
It is now tucked up in my damp shelf so it will dry very slowly!!!! Between the damp and the cold, I am expecting that it will take about 2 weeks to dry. I have to catch it before it is bone dry to round its bottom and to cut 3 holes near the rim of the pot.
Love, love, love creating pottery ! 💛💛💛
