Third Year Day 14
Today was an off day. I woke up late, went into the lab and did all the essential things like checking cells and mice. And then felt so unmotivated. I headed down to a cafe on main campus to try to do some writing in a different location but...I just couldn’t get into the mental headspace.
So instead of forcing myself to read those articles I took a mental health afternoon, looked at some op shops and lay at home in bed doing nothing. I’m going to get in a swimming workout (fingers crossed the indoor pool isn’t too busy as it’s raining today) and then head into tomorrow ready and fresh to go!

I enrolled in this last year but I changed jobs and decided to put all of my energy in to learning new products/procedures for work, so I had to apply for it again this year. I'll now be a 2019 Postgrad student instead!

thanks for being my bff + my partner in crime 🖤⚡️ love you long time! #TNTWilliams
My first semester of graduate school I had no friends, was poor af (my rent was $1,300/mo per person), I was struggling to find a job, and was in a long distance relationship.
Today is the first day of my LAST semester of graduate school(!!!) and I have quality friends, enough money to comfortably enjoy my life, a job I have learned SO much from, and get to live with my wonderful boyfriend!
Two years makes such a big difference in who you are, your circumstances, what you think you're capable of, what you're confident enough try, and how the world perceives you. Yes, getting your Master's is challenging, but honestly it's mostly discipline and time management.
For more information on steps for applying to graduate school and what you should think about before you apply, refer to the link in my bio and go to the "Career" section of my site!

✈️🇨🇦 Canada is a beautiful, snowy, cold, unique, cold, friendly, COLD, winter wonderland! “Real feel” -31° is as low as we’ve gotten... and tbh I think that might be low enough. 🤷🏻♀️ #OntarioCanada#simplynikitravels

Good morning! It’s time to start reading for Criminal Law. 😊 We’re going to be discussing specific crimes for the rest of the semester and I think that will be really interesting so I’m looking forward to it. 🥳 I’ve started studying at around 5-6am recently and have been going to bed a bit earlier, maybe around 11pm. I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to pull all-nighters anymore these days, and I’m worried that my new study routine might not be as effective as my previous one but I’m trying to push myself and try new things. 😊 Do you have any tips about sticking and getting used to new study routines? I’d love to know! ❤️✨ #lawstudent
Somehow in my four years of college I both found and lost myself. 🤷🏻♀️ I nurtured my passion for filmmaking, I made lifelong friends, I moved into my first apartment and I have hundreds of memories and experiences that made me who I am today. 💕
But I also lost my balance between discipline and indulgence.😕 Yeah, I tried to work out...sometimes. But my diet was horrible. ☠️ I ate around the clock, gained 50 lbs and while I was out there living it up, I was also crying inside because this was not the body I imagined I’d be living it up in. 😖
It’s been a tough lesson to learn: to break the unhealthy habits I developed over the past four years, so I’m speaking from experience when I say: DON’T WAIT. ⏲
If that voice in the back of your head is telling you to turn this car around, LISTEN. And if you don’t know where to start, I’m only a message away. 😘

You know you had a great leg day when you can barely make it down the stairs afterwards and your legs just about give out underneath you...
Today’s workout consisted of:
• 5 minute treadmill warm-up
• 3 x 10 Barbell squats
• 3 x 10 Banded squat jumps
• 3 x 10 RDLs
• 3 x 12 Smith Machine reverse lunges
• 3 x 10 Barbell Hip Thrusters
• 3 x 10 Cable Glute Kickbacks
• 3 x 10 Hamstring Curls
And some squat jumps and burpees for added fun 😉
The last assignment I wrote was about historical romantic fiction, comparing Memoirs of a Geisha to The Other Boleyn Girl (both books I’d read before but ones I’m happy to have re-read). Having been reading post-colonial analyses of Geisha for two months I then saw this in a charity shop and couldn’t resist. It’s landed on my TBR, but who knows when I’ll have time to dive back into western interpretations of Japanese culture?
2019 is my year of healthy attitudes. I’m taking away my growth mindset and putting myself in a good place - which means letting things slide, giving myself credit and allowing myself space. These are the best years of my life, and I’m damn well going to make the most of them 👩🎓🍸💐

Sometimes I feel so exhausted. Hussling is hard. But you just gotta take a break, watch a movie, take a nap and then continue hussling. Remind yourself that hard work ALWAYS pays off. You reap what you sow. Make everyday count💪 #hussle#makeverydaycount#postgrad#masters#motivation

Term 2, Day 7: Every type of possible weather today! ☀️☁️🌨❄️ Glorious sunshine to clouds to sleet and a slight smattering of snow. An afternoon full of stats lectures, so my brain is now full for the day 🌟
What's up Scholars? Time for some old school #ScholarSunday reflection; The past 30 days have been different for me. Not in a completely bad way but not necessarily in a good way either. The end of my December term was hectic to say the least, so I have been taking advantage of these past few weeks to stay in my pyjamas for longer than normal, opting for more naps, and overall putting what my body wants and my mental health first. This also means doing things differently, not letting my 'to do' list control my day. I am still getting good work done don't get me wrong. But I am doing it in a different way. I feel like its now "time to get back to my normal routine" but I can't seem to get there. And I am wondering... was that way even the best way to work, for me? ⠀
I guess I am curious if any PhD students have ever gone through this before? Maybe it starts to happen when courses come to an end? Or maybe its just what is happening in my life at the moment. Maybe it is just a phase and I will get back to my normal routine soon. Any advice? 🙏🏽
One year ago today, I walked across the stage and received my BS in Psychology. 365 days later and I still don't know how I plan to use it
Some days, not knowing what step I'm taking next is really scary. There's a lot of pressure from society to figure your life out, and I often feel like I'm failing at this whole adult thing. Taking a gap year (or two) still feels foreign to me because I'm so used to always having a plan
Other days, I'm thankful for my gap year. It's allowed me to travel Australia for an incredible 5 months- something I wouldn't have been able to do if I went straight back to school or started a career. It's also given me time to really contemplate what I want to do with my life. When I go back to school, I'll be confident in my decision instead of rushing
If you're in a similar situation as me, this is your reminder to breathe. You'll find your way (I will too!). For now, use this time to your advantage- travel, nurture your relationships, and discover your passions. While working on myself, I discovered I'm passionate about helping others on their journeys to self love and healthy living. You'll find your passions too, and they'll help guide you down the right path 💕
at the moment all I seem to be doing is thinking about PhD applications or working on my research placement😴 on the plus side I’m going for a mini holiday this weekend as it’s my birthday on Monday so it should be a nice break!🥰🥰 hope you’re all okay🌟
3 reasons everyone should live in a big city in their 20's:
1. SO much opportunity. Any job you could think of is within 10 high-rises of where you live.
2. Always food to try, places to experience, and groups to join. Great place to be as you're learning who you are, what you like, and what kind of hobby to take on besides Netflix.
3. It makes you tougher. The people walking around are rarely taking a stroll. Everyone is headed somewhere or doing something and they're not going to baby you. You'll be challenged, and have to budget, and experience loneliness, and all of that teaches you things about yourself you may not have learned if you'd lived somewhere that didn't expect so much out of you.
