I don’t know about you, but I love satay, oyster omelette, chicken wings and carrot cake. The smell, the sauces and the taste; these small nuances are what makes each hawker distinct in their own right. It’s really sad to see it becoming so commercialized. That distinctiveness is dying as we speak because of the lack of support for these individual hawker-entrepreneurs. How can we help them? I don’t know all the answers. But I know that even if they up their prices by just 20-50 cents or even a dollar, I’ll still buy from them. If we don’t support them, who will. | #whatsmakessg#ourhawkerculture#singapore#singaporefood#singaporean
One of the reasons I really love taking pictures of my kids is that it gives me the chance to really see them. I think so much of the time I'm just looking at them and not really taking the time to see them, to see who they are, who they are becoming, feel them deeply. This guys emotions and moods move so swiftly that I rarely get to just see him.
Today I was shooting some headshots for a good friend and I needed to test the light in my makeshift 'studio' (aka my mom's living room 😂). Lincoln was the only one home so thank goodness he was in a cooperative mood and wanted to look out the window anyways because he was hoping his next door neighbor friend would be coming home soon. This beautifully pensive face is just him watching very carefully for their car 😁. I love this little guy who most days seems to be a wise old man trapped in an emotional preschoolers body.
