So with less than a week to go my preparation is set and my body feels strong, one of my most consistent blocks of training to this point. While I have a lot of work to do to be ready for the summer races I have my eyes fixed on I have to look at what I've done so far with a smile.
One thing that hit me though is I'm about 10-15lbs over what Ive raced at in the past, even well over my typical 50km training weight. Normally I'd be a bit concerned over this, but I'm hitting faster times in workouts and recovering better than ever, plus I'm pretty happy with how my body is coming together. Hahaha. I know it probably sounds and looks stupid but weight is such an easy thing to focus on and get pissed about when it can only tell part of the story. In the past I've been pretty obsessive over my weight to the point I wasn't doing the right things for my training and health. Not for a second would I say I dont think I look strong, but when I see I'm the heaviest Ive ever been it takes a while to process the why and is pretty easy to start getting negative. So, yeah, probably pretty dumb, but weight, like I'm sure with every other athlete has screwed with my head in the past and right now I'm pretty happy with everything despite the scale. Something I'm not sure I've ever really felt. Gotta shoutout @aysharuns for always being so positive about stuff like this.
